"Lisa was sweet company is garbage. Just a reminder if you have roommates and they have perfect credit but yours is a little low (522) they wouldn't accept you. The only plus side of all of this is you'll get a refund for the application fee."
"I would really have to say dealing with this company was very pleasant, they were attentive to lessening, and understanding and concern that I may have had. They never rushed me threw anything and when meeting in person, very respectful and helpful. I would recommend this company to anyone that is looking for a place to settle in.. but also deal with honest people with an honest real-estate company."
"In the beginning, we were able to work with Anna, who was great to deal with. Five months into our 1 year lease, the owner decided to sell and the property management company’s owner (older white haired lady, Diane?) took over communication. She was a nightmare to deal with and constantly called us even though I asked her to email only. She complained that our house wasn’t clean enough to show, and I informed her that my husband and I both work a lot and are extremely busy. It was so uncomfortable living there with people coming to view the house everyday, I asked if they could show the house while we weren’t home (which is often because we work A LOT). They didn’t like that, so they posted a “Notice to Quit” on our door, giving us by the end of the month to move out. This was in the middle of winter. My family of 5 had to scramble to find another house, and we were too busy to take legal action against them. My children had to go to a different school in the middle of the school year. This property management company is ran by a monstrosity of a person and is completely unethical. Please steer clear of this place."
"My wife and I started renting a property from A Step Above Property Management at the beginning of June 2020. Upon moving in to the property we were extremely disturbed at the condition of the house upon move-in and were confused at how any property management could consider the property move-in ready. When we moved in it was obvious that the house had not been cleaned at all since the last renter occupied the property, this is something that they said was required to be payed for by the renter upon move-out so we expected it to be clean upon move-in. There was dried food stains on the wall, carpets had to be shampooed, and cabinets were covered in gunk. Not only that but there were multiple windows that would not close or shut properly and the swamp cooler had the ground plug torn off as well as had an extremely bad leak. The doorknob on the garage was missing as well as the dining room light being inoperable. After a month of sending in maintenance requests and receiving rude emails and responses that basically stated that we were creating a “wish list” for the property that we wanted them to take care of, the property management finally fixed the doorknob and the swamp cooler but refused to fix any further issues. After requesting that other issues be fixed such as the windows (which is required by Colorado law to have all windows and doors be able to lock) the property management sent us a notice to vacate. After reviewing the notice to vacate we found that it was not valid and was a testament that this company was trying to bully us out of our lease because we were asking for basic things to be maintained. After debating a legal suit my wife and I were able to agree to terms with the company and we vacated the property. The company has since unfairly deducted funds off of our security deposit for issues that they “fixed” that were broken before we moved onto the property, however at this point we have no interest in further fighting a legal battle with this terrible company. This company is shady and uses bullying tactics to push its renters out of their properties when things are not going their way. Avoid this company at all costs, they are not worth the headache and you should search for a rental from a company with a better record. This company has a gained a reputation with lawyers in the community and with the BBB as a dishonest company."
"I found A Step Above to be a relief to rent from after renting from private owners who were not well versed in housing laws. Their online portal makes rent and reviewing documents a breeze. I ended up purchasing the house I was renting and Debbie, the owner was the transaction broker. She was great to work with--always very polite and enthusiastic about the process. I would recommend them to anyone with emotional support animals because they are aware of the law and are easy to work with in this area."
