"Long overdue review. Me and my family have trained here for over a year now and Portela BJJ really is the best jiu jitsu in the Aurora area. Kids classes are non-stop action which keeps my 8 year olds attention the entire time. Kids DO get to learn submissions and do live rounds, (all highly supervised and age appropriate) unlike some of the other gyms in the area. They also have additional competition based class for all the kids that actively compete. Lots of medals coming back to this gym! Adult classes - top notch instruction from several black belt professors. There is so much emphasis on good technique. Good mix of men and women as well! All belt colors are doing live rounds here!!!! If you want to compete as an adult, this gym will prepare you amazingly. Women- this is a safe place to learn and train! All adult classes are welcoming and respectful. Also the women's only class on Saturdays is a great way to step on the matt for the first time and get comfortable. If you are interested in BJJ, this is the gym for you and your family, hands down."

"It was my first bjj class in well over a decade and these guys were all great. Good group of coaches and students, they take it as fast or slow as you need while teaching good fun technique. It was a gi class and they were more than kind to let me borrow one and a belt. 10/10 can't reccomend more!"
