"My children attend(Ed) and we have always been impressed with the staff and the facilities are more than adequate on the elementary side. Middle school needs an HVAC upgrade desperately and the bus/pickup situation is lacking but as a school we appreciate the academic situation greatly."
"STEM might say things like "we help students face problems they will face when they're an adult" but that's not true, the school's schedule is FLOODED with math and only has science and technology. STEM also neglected a lot of parent's complaints so they never really helped students with anything and only made things worse especially for parents. The principal Mrs. Martin also focused more on making the school look good instead of actually making the school good, she just says whatever she can to make the school look helpful when the school neglects parent's complaints, cares more about student's grades than their education, and gets students in trouble for unreasonable reasons, one time there was this kid with a hula hoop and the kid was throwing snow into the tiny lake at the school (NOT AT ANYONE) and one of the recess monitors got mad at him and took away his hula hoop as a punishment. DO NOT send any of your kids to this school."
"I hate STEM. It's one of the worst schools that I've ever been to. The school does have some good teachers, but most of the teachers suck and the school can't care any less whenever a parent has a complaint. Instead of making sure students did a good job on being educated, they made sure the students did a good job on work, which only ended up hurting everyone's chances of doing well. The assistant principal sometimes lied to my mom about school events and never took accountability for it. You may think that maybe it was a last-minute delay, but I don't believe that because they never said anything about a delay. The principal Mrs. Martin was a lousy principal. She focused more on making the school look good instead of making it actually good. One time, a younger student found a pill on the ground and ate it, and she never cared. If I were the principal in that situation, I would've had a talk with the student and announced to the school not to pick things up and eat it. The school also did ridiculous events, Mrs. Martin one time asked students if they could write some things in cursive when the school never taught us how to write cursive. There was also a time when the school asked us to come over on Saturday because one of their teachers was selling stuff, but it wasn't for the school. It was for the teacher (luckily, none of these events were mandatory) The school also mistreated my friend and did some questionable things to him, I can tell if Mrs. Martin was jealous, or if she was being racist but my friend was the smartest kid in school, and he was 2 years younger than me, and we were in the same grade. After he won the science fair for the 4th year in a row, Mrs. Martin started to turn on him. My friend liked selling books that he made himself at school and used Stembot bucks as the currency to pay for his books. The steambot bucks are officially a currency at the school earned after doing something good. The day after my friend won the science fair, he was selling his book at recess like he would normally and Mrs. Martin went up to him and told him he wasn't allowed to sell books anymore. The reason why this is absurd is that she never told him nor his parents why she told him he was forbidden from selling his books, and what really makes this questionable is the fact that she had no problem with my friend selling his books but then had a problem after he won the science fair, it's possible that maybe she thought he was undermining the currency since you earn Stembot bucks for doing something good, but this is still absurd because she never said why and still didn't have a problem with this back then, his teacher also started failing him afterwards even after his parents helped with and double checked his work, he was the smartest kid in school so I knew it wasn't because he was getting questions wrong, Mrs Martin also had her own kids that went to the school, so it's also possible she was jealous and did this to better their chances of getting ahead. My friend (some of my theories possibly aren't true, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions, but I know there isn't a good reason behind this) I'm not sure if this one is necessarily the school's fault, but a lot of the kids were jerks and would mistreat everyone a lot (especially me). A lot of the kids would tease certain people in an unfunny way even after being told to stop, and a lot of the kids would act like they're smarter or better than everyone and would get mad if you said anything against them and your only hope would be the teacher. One time we were playing inside for recess and I asked the recess monitor if I could play on a chrome book for recess and she said yes, so I was minding my own business on my chrome book and kids were yelling at me saying that I wasn't supposed to because I didn't ask the teacher, but the thing is is that she wasn't there and all we had was the recess monitor as the adult in the room (mind your own business, it's not like using a chrome book is gonna get anyone hurt) PLEASE DON'T GO TO STEM!"
"As new parents/student coming into this school year we have been very impressed. The uniforms are reasonably priced, instill school pride, and make it easy to get dressed in the mornings. You can buy simple designs from the school store or spend more online if you want more choices. The building has been recently updated with a beautiful new playground. There is a before and after school program provided for those of us that work which is greatly appreciated. Breakfast and lunch are provided to all students regardless of income which is amazing. Finally, the emphasis on STEM and an extended learning day (with little homework might I add) will really benefit the kids and prepare them for the future. Good job and thank you for taking great care of our children!"
"As a student here, I believe this school does well in educating the students and promoting projects. Some teachers are a concern when it comes to having the students completely understand the unit, but otherwise I love the rest of the teachers, because they definitely care about our education. I'm a little curious how student enrollment works, because this school is a STEM based academy and I want it to have worthy students. Many students there sometimes don't care about the projects teachers put the effort in, and others always create drama. SO I love this school but I just wished it had a stricter student acceptance and better lunch food."
