"Dr. St. Clair is awful. She is condescending, unhelpful, and will push tests and medication that are completely unnecessary. She gives no advice other than, "Pay us more!" We asked her multiple valid questions and she treated us like we were stupid. She was extremely condescending about our financial situation, to a degree I have not experienced from a medical "professional" before. I will no longer be seeing her for my pet's care, and you shouldn't either."
"This is the first review I have ever written for a business because I am so appalled with the way I was treated. I have never felt so disrespected by a provider of any kind. I dropped my dog off at 9:45am and they didn't see her for a comprehensive check up until 5pm. That means she sat in a kennel for 7 hours. Why would I make an appointment if she is just going to wait all day?! My dog has a condition that I have handled for her whole life (she is 10 years old). I have been to this Banfield location many times and every time my dog has been prescribed the same medication that treats her dry eye condition. Today we saw Dr. Elizabeth St. Clair who refused to give us any refills of the medicine that I have given my dog for years with no issues. She was wildly condescending to me on the phone telling me how sad she was about my dog's condition but that there was nothing she could do for us and we had to see a specialist. Seeing a specialist was not an option for 2 months which meant my dog was going to be uncomfortable for months with her condition... how is that helping the issue? She forgot to mention that she heard a heart murmur and did not mention any of the things in the exam that I asked them to look at because she was so fixated on telling me how sad she was about my dog's condition. This was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful to me. After calling the Banfield in Longmont, they were able to see my dog that afternoon and seemed very surprised that Dr. St. Clair had refused us the proper medication. They gave me an unlimited refill of the medicine I needed and I was out the door that afternoon with the proper care. DO NOT GO TO THIS BANFIELD LOCATION!! I highly recommend the Longmont Banfield instead."
"Usually a good experience here, but here's the story: I took my cat in for his regular checkup and they said that they looked at his teeth and he had a neck lesion and he NEEDED to have xray and extraction ASAP. So I brought him into the office for his teeth cleaning, xray, and extractions as they told me he NEEDED. I got call after call with updates. but they had MIXED UP MY CAT WITH ANOTHER CAT. I had authorized procedures on a cat that was not even my cat. After they told me I needed the upgraded pet plan and xrays, and mixing up my cat with another, they finally got to him and then told me after paying everything that there was no neck lesion after all and nothing was actually wrong with my cat in the first place.... I feel scammed of my money not only for the xrays but the upgrade in plan i would NOT have purchased if they did not tell me I needed it. It makes me wonder if they mixed my cat up with another on the initial visit as well!!! They also HAVE NOT given him dewormer/regular meds as promised in the plan or done fecal samples on site."
"Do not come here!!! If you are reading reviews on vet places, I am sure you care about your pet's well-being. I will tell you how my puppy died because of Dr. Elizabeth St. Clair's negligence and malpractice. This occurred at Banfield Pet Hospital Superior location. I really hope this changes your mind, and you can protect your pet from these people. I, unfortunately, was too late to save my baby girl. I took my 10-month-old puppy to Banfield Hospital on a Saturday. My puppy was not eating, had diarrhea, and was throwing up. Lila was Dr. St. Clair's patient, and this was a drop-off appointment. Dr. St. Clair explained that my puppy had a bacterial infection but not to worry because she was going to be okay. She sent her home with antibiotics and some probiotics. My puppy did not get any better. There I was at home, near my little girl all night, cleaning up her vomit, and seeing her reject her favorite treats. I kept thinking about what Dr. St. Clair had said, "Lila is going to be okay, you just need to give it a couple of days for the antibiotics to work." My heart was falling to pieces because deep inside I knew something was wrong, but how can I doubt a veterinarian who knows more than me? Lila did not get better. I could not wait any longer. So I took her back to the hospital to see Dr. St. Clair. She performed X-rays on Lila's stomach. And again, she reassured me that the X-rays did not show anything abnormal. No object was there (I was concerned that she might have eaten something). Then, she explained that Lila needed a medication called "metoclopramide" to help move some stool that she still had, as shown by the X-rays. At the end of the consultation, she again said that Lila would be alright, I just needed to give it time. I read the paperwork she gave me, and Dr. St. Clair wrote the prognosis as "Good". She reassured me multiple times that Lila was going to be fine. I sat next to my little girl for three days. She was not eating, but she still wanted my affection. Now that I know the outcome of this, I think she was saying her goodbyes to me, I just did not know. She slept all day right next to me. We slept on the floor together, and I could not go to work. I felt that I needed to be with her, just holding on to the vet's words, "Lila is okay, antibiotics just take a long time to work, and her bacterial infection is a hard one to treat." My puppy died that next morning. She died at the ER. I took her there because I could not wait any longer for the "antibiotics to work". She got an ultrasound, and they found a foreign body in her intestines. But because she was given metoclopramide to induce bowel movement, the object moved down and perforated her intestines beyond repair. I left my baby girl at the ER thinking she was going to be alright, and I got a call from the ER vet that the best course of treatment was to let her go. She was in too much pain, and her intestines were too perforated. My heart dropped, my life changed, and the worst thing is that I did not see it coming; I had an "expert" in the field (Dr. St. Clair) telling me to wait and that things were going to be alright. I went to talk to Dr. St. Clair to get answers. I asked her why she ignored some symptoms, and she explicitly said, "I did not take into account the vomiting because it is common for puppies to vomit. I had to focus on the other symptoms." Now, 4 months later, I received a letter from two other certified veterinarians who reviewed the case, telling me that Dr. St. Clair was negligent and there was malpractice. Metoclopramide is a cannot be given to pets until all exams to check for foreign objects have been conducted. Dr. St Clair never mentioned further testing, not even as an option. I had already told her that I had the money to cover any treatment. I just wanted my baby girl to be okay. I have no words to explain how I feel right now and how hard it has been to wake up alone and to not have her. I miss her everyday and nobody should experience this pain. So please do not take your pet here!!!"
"If I could leave a review with zero stars, I would! This clinic as well as their corporate office did a horrible job assisting my elderly mother. She had taken her dog in to simply get her vaccines and did not thoroughly explain their wellness plan and told my mother it was a great deal etc... however, never mentioned that they signed her up for it. It wasn't until reviewing my mother's bank statement did we find they were taking payments out for the wellness plan. When calling the clinic directly, they said they couldn't stop the plan that I'd have to call their corporate office. I called and was on hold for over an hour then decided to use their texting option. I explained the situation and they could care less. They simply said she needs to pay for the plan. No apologies that the clinic didn't fully explain what they were doing, all they wanted was $, shame on them for taking advantage of an elderly person. I hope that anyone else sucked into their scam fully understands what they are signing at the end of an appointment."
