Reviews of Plato's Closet
"The sweetest, most helpful, ready to accommodate you, staff ever! Selection is good, prices on some things could be a little lower for used goods, but hey, they pay for it first before going on the rack and have bills too. I enjoy finding treasures in there and always have a good time."
"Seriously good selection of clothes and shoes. I found the exact style I wanted in no time. The staff were very friendly and walking around checking on guests while doing their tasks. The downside is that this is the most marked up prices I’ve ever seen at a Platos Closet. There were SHEIN leggings for $12 when I’m positive they’re sold less from SHEIN themselves (fast fashion/sweat shop produced after all). Second hand clothes are supposed to be affordable. Thats why people thrift."
"We’re visiting from Oklahoma as we’re looking to move. I visited Plato with my spouse to get some warmer clothes and we were followed and harassed by the employees. They checked all the small bills for validity, snatched clothes out of my spouses hands, sat outside the waiting room, overall a very dirty and uncomfortable experience. We did ask them if we did something incorrect to make them behave that way, but we were told it’s just policy. Despite, others in the store rummaging around with no halt. It’s absolutely unacceptable to feel that way at a retail store, I hope they can readjust and someone higher up handles that. Seriously ridiculous and I never leave reviews. Later Edit: As a customer I’m leaving an experience review. I don’t need you to explain why I felt harassed, I need you to address why I and others have felt like “criminals” in your store. I’m not the only one to report this exact issue, and you have responded in a negative way twice. You could have asked me to explain my situation in further detail, but that was not the case. I don’t need you to send me people you’ve caught in the area, I need you to be a professional business owner and represent your brand. Have a good day! If you have any further comments or if you do decide you’d like to reach out feel free to email my Google account."
"In summary: - clothing is more expensive than a place like Arc thrift or Goodwill, but it's also in better condition, better organized, and likely more in fashion. Also, the SHOES are so much better than the typical thrift store. - the target audience seems to be more towards young adults, however they have plenty of variety and the stock is constantly changing, so there's definitely something for everyone. The men's section was smaller, as is typical, but it actually had a decent variety. - the dressing rooms are a much more interactive experience: an employee is stationed there to unlock one of the booths for you, ask for your name, and refer to you by said name when helping you with your items. The whole protocol of the dressing rooms is on a sign inside the booth, which I've posted here. - They have 3 registers, and even if they have 3 staff members behind the desk, it's possible that only one or two of them will be ringing up customers. The other ones are likely processing new clothing that's been dropped off. Very pleasant experience, I'm kind of shocked at all the bad reviews, must be a bunch of grumpy boomers with nothing better to do. Although, I can't speak to their clothing drop-off process, as I only went shopping here. The employees are bustling around placing clothing on racks from either the dressing room rejects or from freshly processed new clothes. Every time one of them needed to walk past me they were polite and said "excuse me". Every interaction I had with the staff in general was very polite and I was asked if I needed help finding anything by at least one person. Honestly, the worst thing about the place was the groups of annoying teenage girls shopping there, but any clothing store will have this issue. All in all, a great place to thrift clothing of a higher quality than large donation-based thrift stores."
