Reviews
"The previous review is dead on. Harbor did get me in good standing at first, and I made payments. However, they completely underestimated the time frame it would take to get me cleared up. So they just abandoned me and gave me the run around for over 2 years. No lie when I say that one day I was so determined for them to resolve my situation that I waited on hold for over 3 hours. Nothing was resolved that day, though. Now I've received notification that they are completely obsolving themselves from me, and I owe more than I would have if they helped me 2 years ago. I pray I may find a way to pursue successful legal action against them. Awful, horrible, all-around experience. Please stay away. Here is a follow-up. After I posted this original poor review and made a complaint to the BBB (BTW, numerous complaints had already been made by others), Harbor actually reached out to me. They asked for the opportunity to make things right. I agreed and was happy to be "reactivated" and given the opportunity to start making payments toward future settlements. I responded to emails and completed bank forms. Nothing happened. When. I contacted them. I was told there was actually nothing that could be done for me other than to be offered an option of making a 1 time lump some payment, which would be well into 5 figures. I don't have that kind of money at this time. However, I could make consistent monthly payments. Well, that was not an option, and I'm still right where I was from the beginning of this post. I've never written such a long and awful review about anything. However, I wish I could give this business negative 5 stars. Never had such a poor experience."
"FALSE ADVERTISING. Not a three year program as noted. All of my accounts were actually in good standing when I signed up in 2016 and now I’m getting wages garnished in 2020 well over a year beyond the contract and still wondering why payments aren’t being paid for my final three account or active negotiations taking place. a client since 2016. I definitely wouldn’t recommend enemies to to use this company. I’m pretty certain our funds are in an account and these thieves are making money off peoples misfortune."
"Paid all my payments on time during a three year program. They did NOT do what they said they could. I still have debt (about 65%) left to take care of myself. They pay themselves contingent on the amount they will save you in the program (plus fees and expenses). So I asked for the money back on the three accounts that they did NOT settle (that they have already paid themselves) but they won't! How the heck can this be legal? Well, it isn't! I have contacted REAL legal representation to go after them. STAY away from this so called debt relief firm. Exactly the opposite! They are worse than the credit card companies. Seriously, it would be better to deal with the credit card companies yourselves. Use your own local attorney in your own area and you will be way more successful! Only positive thing I can take from this experience is I have learned to live without using credit cards. Good luck to you all."
"I started this program four years ago and so far they pay off a couple of small bills. But now I am having my check garnish because i was told that I agree to pay off one of the bills that i had put in the programs. I was informed that I received paperwork in the mail that i did not receive when I called the company I was informed that there was a recording of me agreeing to but when i asked to hear the recording the person refused too. Once I receives the court papers about being garnish I spoke with one of the negotiator who try to get me to add more money to my account I informed the person I didn't have any extra monies he said he will call me be back put I have not receive a phone call yet. I called the company today and spoke with a customer service who inform me I should be receiving a call within the next couple of days. I cannot wait until I am done with this program because it did me more harm then good this was a lesson to be learn for me."
"I would give no stars if possible so the one star is generous. I have been a client there since 2015 and it has been an extremely brutal experience. It is so bad with them that although I am still a client with them I am writing this. Where do I begin??? Their "customer service" is non-existent. Do not believe anything they say about any deliverable they promise. They will always underdeliver. Their rep Gary promised me an Estimate to Complete (ETC) by February 8 on February 7. On February 8 the woman who was supposed to do it, Kelsey, called me to give me an excuse for it not to be done and promised I would have it by February 11. I emailed them on February 11 since Kelsey did not do her job and they ignored it so on February 12 I had to spend 25 minutes on hold while at work only to speak to the most useless (but polite) rep who could not answer a single question about my account. She asked Kelsey about the ETC. Kelsey promised I would have it February 12. Spoiler alert, I still do not have it and was on hold for another 35 minutes tonight to speak to them during their office hours. Their people are polite but either incompetent or lazy. Next, I question their integrity and business practices when they offer initial proposals to people when they first join their client base. I had 11 separate accounts with them when I started in 2015. Due to their inactivity and being threatened by collectors I handled 2 on my own. They did handle the 8 smallest accounts for me. They completely ignored the biggest account I trusted them to negotiate for me (almost 40% of my debt) despite numerous requests for information on it. I recently got a 1099-C from the creditor where they are forgiving the debt. After giving the 1099-C to Harbor Legal for $20K I was informally told my total debt payment went down only $1,500 from what I owed them initially. How does that monkey math work you may ask? Their outrageous fees and charges. Furthermore, I took the time to run the numbers on what I paid and am projected to since their staff will not help me. Spoiler alert #2: The amount I paid and would still owe only equals the total amount of their outrageous fees and the accounts that they settled for me. It makes me wonder how or if they planned to settle my largest debt that they agreed to. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM HARBOR LEGAL GROUP AT ALL COSTS!!!"
