"Delicious meal and great ambiance! We ordered the whole chicken platter “to share” and it was amazing. The sauce for the chicken was sooo good! Really enjoyed it, and it was perfect for 3 people to share. For dessert we had the basque cheesecake with bourbon caramel and OMG. My mouth was in heaven. Not sure why they only have a 3.7 rating, I highly recommend this restaurant for a cozy dinner in Mountain Village!"
"A great spot for a guaranteed amazing dinner. The food is always spot on and the service is great. My only critique would be...for a $250/ person type of place, the TV shouldn't be showing sports. Maybe Telluride scenery. I would expect games to be on for a lunch or a sports bar. Won't keep me away but just saying that it cheapens the quality."
"Some friends and I ate here for lunch while skiing on the mountain. Service lacked from the start. We waited a long time for water and were never asked if we wanted any other drinks. We ordered an appetizer, fondue, which was interesting. The cheese was delicious, but the sides were odd and overall, the appetizer was way overpriced. Two of us had chicken sandwiches, which were awesome. However, they were served with homemade potato chips that were terrible. Lay's would have been better. My other friend had soup, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The best part of the experience was the atmosphere, followed by the food. Service lacked, but that is common these days, even for an upscale place like Mountain Village/Telluride."
"Not sure why the rating is so low. I really enjoyed the food here. I stayed at this hotel, so all I need is just walk down to dine. They have indoor and outdoor seatings (outdoor with heat lamp but still recommend to sit inside so the food don’t get cold) The place gets busy so the service might be a bit slow, the host was also our waiter for the night. We went ahead and got the order from the feast which is a 20oz elk steak. Which is perfect for two person to share. It’s cooked to the perfection, with side of sweet potato, finger potato, sweet onion and carrots. The plate is huge everything is delicious."
"Early bird gets the worm? Nah, at Black Iron Kitchen & Bar in Mountain Village, Colorado, the early bird gets a blissful breakfast and a dash of solitude. We may have been among the first patrons at the crack of dawn, but hey, who can blame us? With a menu that entices the senses and service as crisp as the morning air, an early start was inevitable! Our seat of choice was a sun-kissed spot outdoors, right next to their fire pits. As we nestled down, the thermometer barely touching 42°F, the fiery warmth was a delightful counterpoint to the morning chill, much like savoring hot chocolate on a ski slope. The menu was a tantalizing exhibition of healthy breakfast specials, but our rebellious streak couldn’t be tamed. Shunning the prearranged, we dove straight into the ‘Al La Carte’ section, because why not add a sprinkle of surprise to our sunrise? My morning palette was graced with their oatmeal, an earthy symphony completed with a side of crispy heritage bacon – a crunch to wake me up better than any alarm clock! On the other hand, my husband embarked on a culinary expedition with a buttermilk biscuit, bacon, and eggs over medium – a classic symphony of breakfast favorites. In retrospect, our entire experience felt like we were living in a picture-perfect postcard, with the Black Iron Kitchen & Bar as the featured image. It was a welcome haven from the relentless furnace that was Houston, Texas, providing us with a refreshing sanctuary of sub-100°F temperatures! Just as we were finishing our morning feast, the proverbial ‘breakfast crowd’ started to make their grand entrance. But we had already savored the peace, solitude, and gastronomic delights of the early morning. A crowning achievement? Absolutely! We’d done breakfast, Black Iron style, and it was a meal that would echo in our memories for weeks to come."
