Reviews of Babi Yar Memorial Park
"I flew in from Chicago and this memorial was on my "must see" list. I wanted to give it 5-stars because of the rarity of such a memorial this far West and because of the beautiful map showing the layout in the shape if the Star of David. Sadly, I got there and found a sad park in need of some love. Grass was overgrown, parking lot was gravel and was filled with trash. But the worst part was that my wife and I did not feel safe. In the parking lot was a van watching our vehicle and in the courtyard by the split rocks were 2 people sitting on the ground in the corner on cardboard smoking crack. We made it as far as the rocks and turned around."
"A great little park to get away from it all and have a nice thoughtful walk. It is fun to see how the vegetation changes each season at the park."
"It's a really nice park. I would only say it is sad to see the homeless over there and trash in the area. There is no respect for a memorial to the 200,000 Jewish and Ukrainians people that died in WWII in Kiev."
"Love this park. It does have a very Erie feeling these days though, seems some of the homeless population has taken up residence in the out skirts of the park. You can almost feel their eyes on ya. But I can deal with that if they keep to themselves. Otherwise great memorial Park, I have never seen the fountain running so it was nice to see it flowing water this time. Used to throw keggars there back in high school, it was a good safe place to realize you hate the feeling of being drunk. Never got broken up by the cops, I dunno how kids are supposed to learn that stuff these days... guaranteed the SWAT team would respond and it'd be on the news these days."
