"BEWARE!! FYI DOLLAR CAR RENTAL IS OWN BY HERTZ RENTAL I rented our car through AAA. Upon arriving to get the car, the hello guy could not find the reservations. After finally getting the reservations pulled up the guy told me that he could put me in a larger car because the one I rented was small. He said I can upgrade your car for $25 a day. At this point, I have been traveling 24 hours and was tired along with three other people. I could not find my reservations with AAA and the guy kept rushing me to make a decision. I was sure that I had rented a car in the intermediate level. So I said sure just add the upgraded car. He told me that whenever I return the car to just park it in the parking lot and leave the keys in it because they are always busy. I thought this to be a strange request instead, when I did return the car I took it through the return line. After receiving my final bill, I realized that there were numerous charges. I tried to reach dollar car rental only to find out that you cannot speak to a person. You must go online and leave a message. So I am home now and went through my bill I had in fact already reserved an intermediate suv. I was charged $175 extra along with multiple other charges. Do not rent from this company or its parent company."
"Review your rental agreement closely!!! We had a good experience with our customer rep. She offered an upgrade at a discounted price. After we left the airport, we looked at the agreement and found we were charged for the damage waiver and roadside service which we declined. We called every Dollar customer service number (5) that we could find and never had the opportunity to talk to a person."
"If you have unlimited time and love to wait around, this is the car rental company for you! There was a 15 minute wait for the shuttle to Dollar and then once we arrived at the rental office, it was another hour…there were over 20 people in line with 2 staff members. On the positive side, the staff were nice and helpful and I did not have any problems with the car."
"These 3 little letters, AWD, cost us an extra $250. How? Buckle in readers. Reservation was made for a 4WD Jeep weeks in advance. Upon arriving, we were told that the reservation was only for vehicle SIZE not the actual listed vehicle. They refused refund, refused cancelation, and ran our card when we explicitly asked them not to. And they were suspiciously happy about the up charge, not apologetic in the least. The words I would use to describe this business is false advertising and poor service. The customer next to us had a similar experience."
"We have been given a vehicule - an old SUBARU OUTBACK - with an nearly empty tank, a milage of 66 000 miles, and a wrong GPS which does not even find the adress of Denver Airport, or which give you wrong direction which makes you loose 2 hours on a 5 hours trip. We also had a problem with the tire pressure, well that was what was indicating the Dashboard, as we had to call the headquarter, then go to a tire company to check the pressure. The worse is when the brakes started to show signs of weakness : after hours of discussion with DOLLAR headquarter, we eventually had to have the car repair, to realize with the mecanic that the brake pads had probably never been replaced. We started our 5 hours drive, back to Denver, and we nearly lost our lives, as we lost control of the car when braking, the wheel went from right to left and the car went right and left. We had to finish the 5 hour drive with the engine break. DOLLAR DENVER INTL AIRPORT knew the state of the car, and nevertheless they gave it to us. They deliberatly put our lives in danger."
