"Never had someone try and talk me out of getting a quote. Just a quote. Guess they are too busy to help. Not impressed."
"Lee is so helpful! Our dealership was going to charge me nearly $5,000 for a repair on my car. We took it here for a second opinion and it ended up just needing a simple reset. I wouldn’t trust anyone else."
"To say that I'm demanding and picky when it comes to care car would be a massive understatement. I have professional and amateur mechanics in my circle and I have family members that win Pebble Beach with classic car restorations. My background is in racing but I'm definitely not good with a wrench. In short, I have just enough information and experience to make me dangerous and a serious pain in the you-know-what for mechanics :) With all the said, I can't applaud the service I received from these guys enough. I spoke with Lee and Will from the front office more times than they'd like and each time my questions and requests were acknowledged with clear, honest answers and professionalism. I was introduced to Alex who ended up doing the work and he was just as courteous and helpful as the other guys. Initially, AAMCO Denver received my car for major transmission work because they were close. However, if I wasn't comfortable with how I was being treated at any time during the process, I wouldn't have hesitated have my car picked up and towed someplace else. My car is running flawlessly and I really appreciated the fact that they scheduled a follow-up visit 10 days after the repairs were completed and my car was picked up. I thought that was a classy move and it let me know these guys were going to stand behind the work they had done. Thanks, guys! I couldn't be more pleased."
"Bait & Switch!!! During my initial conversation with Will, who claimed to be a manager, he provided an estimate, stating that the total bill would hover around "$5,000, perhaps a bit more if extensive part replacements were necessary, although usually only a portion of the components needs replacement." This figure was consistent with another quote I had received from a different establishment. I took note of this verbal quote, and my decision to choose Aamco was influenced by the prospect of additional support from their various U.S. locations, which I found beneficial given my frequent travels. Will then sent a text message, indicating that a $495 disassembly fee would be charged, which would be credited toward the final bill. Two days later, Will called me and delivered a staggering blow, stating, "I'm sorry, Brother, but the total is now $7,900." While I had anticipated a reasonable increase in pricing (perhaps in the range of $500 to $800 at most), a $2,900 or 58% surge from his original estimate was so far beyond reasonable that it shattered any trust I had in both this individual and the business as a whole. Regrettably, I decided to look into their reviews, only to discover that this was not the first instance where they had drawn in people in need of service, disassembled their transmissions, and then substantially inflated the rates. This blatant bait-and-switch tactic is truly disappointing. I relayed to Will that, due to the complete breakdown of trust, I could not proceed with the service at their establishment. When I walked in and explained how far off the quoted price was from what Will had originally told me over the phone, I respectfully requested that they consider splitting the $495 fee with me, as it would be both appreciated and appropriate given the circumstances. At this point, Will acknowledged his error and directed Veronica to proceed with a 50% discount. However, Veronica responded by stating that she was unable to make that decision and that they would need to consult with the boss. This is when I had the displeasure of meeting the manager/owner of this location, "Gouping Li," who goes by "Li." Upon learning that I would be taking my business elsewhere, Mr. Li's demeanor took a notably negative and impolite turn. I recounted the entire situation for him in an attempt to make him understand, and to my shock, he actually uttered, "DON'T TRUST MY QUOTES." As you can imagine, my expression probably displayed a mix of confusion and disappointment. In response, Li looked at me and brazenly stated, "Don't look at me like that." I ultimately resigned myself to the fact that I would be paying the full $495 price and just wanted to distance myself from this deeply unpleasant individual and retrieve my truck. Given some financial difficulties, I had resorted to using $25 gift cards earned through credit card points, which I had initially intended for Christmas gifts. However, I withdrew these cards to cover the bill. This decision seemed to further enrage Li, and he spitefully commented, "what goes around comes around," before storming off to the garage, uttering curses. I can't be certain of what he may have communicated to the shop personnel, and I sincerely hope he did not tamper with my truck in any way. I uncomfortably made the payment, $25 at a time, and had my truck towed to the establishment with the highest Yelp review, seeking a more reliable and trustworthy provider. AAMCO, I understand that repair costs may fluctuate, but it is disheartening to see a business bearing your name on the building resort to repeated underquoting at such a large ratio and exhibit such extreme unprofessionalism."
"There is a reason why it's packed and always busy. Lee was amazing! Answered all my questions and was very helpful on the phone. Communication here is second to none. I never felt cheated or ripped off. They rebuilt my transmission in a few days and I was out the door. The warranty is very good. He even wants me to bring it back in 500 miles so he can check it again for free! I highly recomend this shop."
