"The Funky Flame offers a fantastic dining experience with its lively atmosphere and delicious wood-fired pizzas. The staff radiates genuine warmth, adding to the overall charm of the restaurant. Additionally, convenient parking options in the back and on the street make it even more accessible. I'm already eager to return for coffee and breakfast sandwiches. A must-visit spot in Denver!"
"This is a fun spot to get breakfast! It surprisingly wasn’t too busy which was nice. The bread loaves, cookies, and pizza are definitely the way to go here but the breakfast was good too. Everyone was so friendly which is always a bonus! Plus the space is absolutely lovely!"
"Went for breakfast and it was good. I still dream of the original parking lot pizza spot but this was good. I should go back for pizza Friday nights but haven’t had time yet. Biscuits and gravy were big!"
"We went to Funky Flame off of 50th and Lowell today. This took the place of The Nosh (formally The Noshery RIP). For those in the area, Funky Flame was the pop up that was across from Sunny's, over in the gyms parking lot. TL;DR: Good breakfast spot, will be back. Prices on par with most of Denver. Its limited menu equates to ease of access when you're popping by before work. Having been to their pop up multiple times I was so excited when they mentioned they were opening a brick & mortar location still in walking distance from me. Their menu is limited but works really well as a college campus breakfast and quick lunch spot. They do pizza after 11, which is really good but we didn't order that today. Their pizza flavors are cheese, pepperoni, and a rotating third fun option. Right now they've got chicken pot pie. Now for what we actually got: OG breakfast sandwich - I ordered this as it came for my first time. I've had this before at their pop up and feel they've improved on an already solid sandwich. It comes in at $9 and includes homemade bread (amazing!), a solid chunk of sausage (well seasoned), pickled onions, cheese they fry onto one side of the bread, an egg, and a sauce at the bottom. You can add avocado for an additional fee. This was a hefty, filling sandwich that I thought was one of the better contenders in this price range. Biscuits and gravy - one for $9, two for $16. My partner chose the latter. The biscuits were the traditional southern sort, a little crumbly and not designed to be the star of the show but still good. He was impressed with the gravy and said it really stood out compared to others he's tried. They do add tomatoes on top which was a nice surprise, it cuts through the heaviness of the meal really well and is something I'll probably be incorporating next time I make this at home. The egg comes over easy by default but you can request other types instead. The latte was rosemary and vanilla, a made in house syrup that wasn't overpowering and made for a really nice drink with the meal. My partner got a drip coffee he described as okay. The water is self serve at the end of the bar. Now for those who have been to The Nosh/ery: The seating is so much better now, they've added bar seating and have redesigned the layout so it's much less crowded all around. Additionally, the food came out quickly & there was no backup for coffee. Overall I felt they fixed a lot of the hiccups that this location previously had because of their redesign."
