"The Helen G Nassif Community Cancer Center has been a wonderful place for me to pull my life back together while and after going through all my cancer treatments. Right now I am very interested in becoming as healthy as I can be. I am so grateful for all of the classes I can take, Yoga & Tia Chi, plus a gym to work out in. All of the people working in this center that I have come in contact with have been so positive and helpful to me. This last year with no contact allowed, your center went above and beyond! Having Tia Chi classes offered on Zoom was the highlight of my weeks, months!! I so appreciate you offering this for us and thinking outside the box. "I have used a lot of the resources at the Nassif Community Cancer Center. I scheduled my radiation appointments so that I could walk on the treadmill. My goal was 2 miles because when I was finished with radiation my husband and I planned a trip to Chicago to see Hamilton. I knew that I would need to be able to walk about two miles on our trip. On the treadmill I started really slow and gradually picked up the pace. I can now walk two miles outside with a friend about 3 times a week. I have worked with Matt a lot. He has given me exercises for balance. They have been very helpful. I haven’t been to see him for awhile because I developed lymphodema and I am focusing on that with my therapist. But I hope to go back soon and work on more strength training. I have had acupuncture with Nancy to help with the neuropathy in my feet. Acupuncture was helpful but I will probably always have neuropathy. I have recently been seeing Marion for Reiki. Her sessions are very relaxing. I also did the genetic test to see if I had passed anything on to my daughters. Because my mother had also had breast cancer it was very reassuring to find out that I did not have a genetic predisposition. This summer we took a trip to the west coast to see family and friends. I was able to walk and keep up with all of the activities. Then in July we went on a trip to Iceland and again I was able to walk and keep up without any problems. I credit the Nassif Community Cancer Center for helping me to get stronger. I really appreciate the resources that are available through the Nassif Community Cancer Center. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I know that everyone I have worked with has been a part of my recovery."
