"It was a very incredible experience and we learned a lot. We had a tour of Father Flanagan's house and it was absolutely amazing and the tour guy gave us a lot of wonderful information. Wow! What an incredible program that they have here. I'm very blessed to have gotten to see this"
"The Father Flanagan House on the Boys Town Campus in Omaha, Nebraska is a wonderful place to tour. Boys Town is its own city, a village to be precise, located within Omaha. The campus is open to visitors and despite misconceptions by some, including some who live in Omaha, there are no gates or guards to get past to visit the campus! Father Flanagan wanted the campus to be the boys' home and not a prison; the boys were able to come at any time and no one was forced to stay. This house was the actual home of Father Flanagan who founded Boys Town. The house isn't open all the time so check schedules online. A great time to visit is in December when the house is decorated for Christmas as it would have been in Flanagan's time in the 1930's and 1940's as if time has stood still. Being able to see the furnishings and design of such a classical home is interesting and fun, but even more fun is that the home is also partially a museum. Visitors get to see Father's famous desk that was built by boys who lived on campus at that time; it's an amazing work of carpentry and craftsmanship. Visitors also get to see examples of the beds the boys had, as well as one of the early classrooms right in the house itself. The house is a short walk past some of the gardens and behind the Boys Town Museum."
"Seemed to be a feeling of peace in the place while i drove through and took a few pics. The caption on the support of the figure really spoke to me ... it is GOD'S work, not mans."
