"We went on an impromptu visit to the Botanical Center today and it turned into a wonderful afternoon. Live music and drinks. We wandered around for about two hours and saw all there was to see. Enjoyed every minute of it!"
"This is a beautiful location. Keep in mind it was certainly cold outside but here it was a very tropical temperature. The whole place is a walk through but they have little note by every plant to let you know what kind of plant you are looking at. The main area had live music playing. There's a restaurant but we didn't have time to go in. It's also a venue for weddings apparently. Tickets are reasonably priced however if you live near here, membership makes more sense. This is a place to go and just to be in the moment. It's a must see spot in De Moines."
"Daytime and night time create two unique experiences. Don't miss the rooms outside of the dome area that are full of inspiration. Trellis Cafe was a lovely dining experience. Wonderful updates since I was last here over 25 years ago."
"Beautiful botanical garden situated at the edge of the Des Moines River. Definitely stop at and explore this place if you happen to be in the Des Moines area. The centerpiece of the garden, the tropical conservatory, is dominated by towering palm trees with lush green fronds. Below the palms was a breathtaking array of tropical shrubs, flowers, vines, etc. Adding on to the scenery was a small waterfall with gently cascading water, which is always a relaxing sound to listen to. At first glance, the outdoor gardens didn’t seem to have many plants growing at all, which made sense because it was early March. However, a few unexpected surprises were hidden among the dormant shrubs and foliage. In various places, crocuses and miniature hyacinth flowers could be found. Most shocking of all, there were minuscule daffodils and irises in which the flowers were no more than 2 or 3 inches off the ground! I had never seen hybrids of those plants that minute before. This botanical garden visit was an excellent way to wrap up my day trip in Des Moines. If you love plants and flowers or enjoy visiting the Des Moines area, this garden is a must see."
"This place is amazing. You have so many different plants to observe and enjoy. There is a place where you can an find a huge variety of orchids (my favorite one). I would highly recommend everyone to go and spend some time enjoying the nature. Regular tickets are $15"
