"Peter Johnson was recommended by Phoebe Martin, the realtor we used when purchasing our current home. In hindsight, we might have chosen someone else, but she did manage to secure the house we wanted. We opted for Peter because he initiated the mortgage process more promptly than Hills Bank. However, during the final two weeks before closing, we encountered an issue. We noticed that his calculations for closing costs were off by $10,000. We contacted him ten days before the closing date, and he assured us that everything would work out and that the total he had provided would be accurate. Unfortunately, this turned out to be incorrect. The day before closing, we found ourselves still $10,000 short. Luckily, we had enough in our savings to cover the shortfall, but it didn't allow us adequate time to withdraw funds from our investment accounts as planned. Peter did suggest opening another line of credit with Home Equity, but given his previous miscalculations, we weren't comfortable doing further business with him. Ultimately, we proceeded with Peter, but we regret not exploring other options. If you're considering using him, I wouldn't recommend it, as we felt like just another transaction to him and didn't receive the respect we expected. In hindsight, I wish we had read reviews before choosing a lender, because after closing, within a month, Greenstate sold our mortgage to another lender who repeated the same pattern. Since buying the house on 4/1/23, we've had three different mortgage lenders."

"My experience has been challenging... as unique as my situation has been I can say that it's not been a fast process because of how thorough they are but it showed me how serious they take protecting their peoples money! "I used to love this place, but then I left Iowa city and realized just how much this bank takes advantage of their customers. They have some of the worst interest rates in the country. I used to tell myself it was the customer service that kept me, but that too is absolute trash when I'm honest with myself. I mean, thanks for the nice smile while you stabbed me in the back, but like, you know, maybe don't stab me in the back? You can't even get basic services like retrieving financial statements older than a year without paying extra fees. The fees end up being more stress than most of the value this bank offers. I've wanted to write this for years. I don't know what took me so long."
