"It’s has ben a great experience for me learning to get along with most all of you. I wish I could have done more when the ACs weren’t working I did what I could even went over to Campus View and installed AC units to help out.I wish I didn’t have to go but I don’t have a choice. I enjoy fixing things and hope you all were happy with the work performed. Maintnence"
"This place deserves zero stars--at best. This past August, during the heatwave, my AC broke. I filed a work request, and gave it a couple days. Eventually, five days later, my apartment reached 93 degrees. 93 degrees. A temperature that is dangerous to be in for longer than six hours. I reached out to follow up on the work request, and was informed that they'd "send somebody up." Days passed, and nothing. I called again, and I was informed that they "looked at it and did the best they could, but the AC can't really produce a temperature greater than 20 degrees below the outside temperature." It was 95 degrees outside, and 93 degrees in my apartment. Duh. DUH!!!!!!!! Several days passed, and still--nothing. On top of that, I was informed multiple days later that nobody had come to inspect my AC. Not only are they neglectful, but they have the nerve to lie straight to your face. Almost TWO WEEKS later, they brought a portable AC to my apartment. Let me tell you, using a paper fan would've been more efficient. Not only that, but after I stayed in a hotel room for a night, I came home to an absolute pool of water spread throughout my entire living room--thanks to the portable AC that lowered my apartment's temperature by one singular degree, I wish I was exaggerating. I informed them, and then they told me that they "fixed it." I moped my entire flooded living room daily for WEEKS after. Eventually, the heat wave ended. I lived in a 93 degree apartment for over two and a half weeks. For $1,250 a month. Now, on November 20th, I am still without a functioning AC. The other day, my apartment reached 80 degrees. In NOVEMBER. Absolutely pathetic. Furthermore, it took months for leasing office to FINALLY provide compensation for the hotel room. Their first offer was lower than the price of the hotel room alone. Oh, and to clarify, I am just getting started! There has been a massive black mold infestation on my ceiling for months, which they knew about. After over a month of filing a work request, as well as hounding them about the issue, they finally came in and simply painted over it. For those that are unaware, the only way to eliminate black mold is to replace the drywall. Black mold is incredibly dangerous to live with, ESPECIALLY in the room you sleep. Fun fact: it is illegal for an apartment complex to neglect a health hazard within a tenant's living space for longer than one month. It's been several months. Know that I know that, leasing office;)))))). Lastly, in the beginning of October, my washing machine broke. I filed a work request. Almost two weeks later, I received an email that my work request was received. My washing machine wasn't fixed until the other day, almost two months later. This wouldn't have happened, had I not hounded leasing office. Unacceptable. The $1,250 I pay every month includes amenities, meaning the in-unit washer and dryer. $1,250 a month to live in an apartment with copious amounts of black mold, a broken AC, a leasing office that severely lacks honesty, and a broken washing machine. $1,250 a month to live in a health hazard that is actively violating health code, as well as the law. Be serious. The photo below was taken over a month after filing a work request, and dozens of phone calls to complain."
"The internet in this place is absolutely trash. I'm constatntly pulling my hair out trying to submit work and perform basic functions while battling errors, disconnections, ridiculous load times, etc. If you don't know anyone here, it'll likely stay that way. Zero socialization here, everyone keeps to themself. Unless they're throwing up in the elevator or throwing trash all over the lobby of course, in which case everyone gets to deal with it. The amenities are quite nice however."
"So I waited quite a while to put my thoughts on here. I had a lot of respect for Campus-town in the beginning as I was an RA for almost 7 months. Campus town is a cheap place for college students to live. They are very nice for the price, but have the worst management and people running the place. They cycle through property managers, assistant managers, and maintenance like no other. In the year and few months I lived there they had like 6 if not 7 managers and assistants. Like I said a great deal for the price as everything is included. They are opening it up to family it seems as there were children that seemed to be running around and being loud all the time. The issue I had with them was their communication skills as well as their empathy and care that they didn’t have for the residents. This building is known to flood multiple times a year, 3-4 if you’re lucky. With that being said they have no plan or anything to help COLLEGE students with displacement if the apartments flood. They basically told us after three floors flooded and they had to redo our apartment that the best they could offer id a lease break because they had no other units available. They didn’t help with a hotel after being forced to leave in the middle of night, displacement, nothing. Be prepared and have a backup plan because they sure as heck don’t, they could care less. They also have terrible will or motivation to help you out. My unit flooded from a washer above us and they never came in to fix that…talk about mold? There’s been many many people who have gotten sick after drinking the water there as well, I’ve heard mold in the water lines but I’m not sure if that’s true! Long story short, for college students with a plan of emergency they are great and if you don’t mind having kids around. I’d say run away from Crapustown but as a last resort…sign at your own risk."
"Doesn't even deserve 1 star! Please please PLEASE do not waste your money here! It looks amazing, but dont judge a book by its cover! Nothing works like it should and when problems arise the staff handles I terribly! I lived at Campus Town apartments for two years and they never did anything right! I had a shower of water pooring out of my ceiling and they got mad at me for calling in the middle of the night about it and said "this is why you have renters insurance and its your fault for waiting for it to get to that point" as if I knew about it and never said anything?! How could I have known?! And all they did was waited till it dried and plastered over it! They didn't even cut out the mold that was there from before or anything. And they always left my door unlocked after inspection, whether it was my front door or leaving my patio door open a crack. They tried to evict my cat because they lost the paperwork i gave them for her and then they also locked my cat up in a spare bedroom that I didn't have a key for! They were changing filters in my room and decided to lock her in the spare bedroom while i was at work and when i got back around 11:30pm after work and called the "Emergency lock out" number that was posted in every hallway and it was for Campus View and not Campus Town! They pretty much told I was out of luck because they didn't have the correct number. I ended up finding the guy's number who did the filters and told him to come back and fix the mess and he said that he was already in Ames for the night and gave me other numbers to call. Hated EVERY second of EVERY day living there! Terrible management AND horrible maintenance staff! Please trust me when I say DONT LIVE THERE!!!!!"
