"Bad experience. Rude and unforgiving staff. Campsite was a mudhole. Worst KOA experience ever and we have stayed at many KOA's over the years. Did I mention the rude staff?? Read some of the other reviewers comments and see how they put down the reviewers instead of trying to be kinder. Recommend to avoid this particular KOA. First time ever suggesting avoiding a KOA. We visited May 2023"
"Onawa Blue Lake KOA is a wonderful campground with lots to do. They usually have extra special things on holidays that makes for a great family experience. They have a swimming pool open from memorial day to labor day, the office has a good selection of things you may need during your stay. They have bicycles for rent that kids from all ages lobe to ride"
"This was my favorite park so far this summer. The owners were professional, friendly, and helpful about places to shop etc...the firewood delivery and selling of fishing worms for the lake was great too. We stayed several extra days bc it was so nice and quiet, plus the view of the lake. I put it at 4 stars but its really 4.5...if they added a pizza delivery or other food I would say its a 5. Will reserve here again."
"EDIT...EDIT...Thank you for clarifying your Staff's highly identifiable uniforms. Not only was the individual I spoke with wearing a yellow shirt and driving a yellow KOA golf cart, he stated that he was the Groundskeeper. If he does not live in a camper he must have been visiting a female that does live in a camper. Highly professional. EDIT...I appreciate the reply from the owner but wanted to correct them in the fact that I did address my concerns with their staff. First was the Groundskeeper at my site then I went to his camper to speak to him again....both visits were fruitless as my concerns were discounted. As far as using Google to review I simply wanted to let others know about my experience....my only regret is that I didn't read the reviews of the many others that had similar experiences. I would not use the word friendly to describe the Staff but efficient is the most accurate word to use. The site was mud and weeds. There is NO grass. The Groundskeeper approached us stating that dog pens were not allowed, it is in the guidelines and he had to mow the "grass" the next day. We did review the guidelines upon arrival and after being confronted. This was a false statement by the Groundskeeper. If this is an actual rule please update the materials handed out to guests with the guidelines. A dead animal was on the site next to us for 2-days. Again the Groundskeeper ignored it. Most people here seem to be long term campers. I had the feeling that if you were not a long term camper you are not welcome. They will tolerate a one night stay and then you need to be on your way. We are extremely happy with our decision to leave early. I recommend simply avoiding Onawa/Blue Lake and enjoy your stay elsewhere."
