"I hate the fact that I’m going to have to change providers after using this practice for almost 10 years. Dr. Purdy has performed three colonoscopies on me, as well as addressing other health issues I have. He is a very knowledgeable and professional physician! That being said, when it came time for my fourth colonoscopy, which was supposed to be in August, it was ridiculous to try to get an appointment for it even though I called early spring, as soon as I got the instructions from the office. It is imperative that I keep up with my schedule of colonoscopies as I have had pre-cancerous polyps removed each time. When they told me they were booking out eight months I had no choice but to take that appointment, but unfortunately it got changed to the end of December, and then subsequently changed AGAIN to the end of February 2024. At this point I don’t have a lot of faith that the February date would stay intact. I was told all of this was due to the fact that the colonoscopy screening age has changed and they are slammed with new patients. I can completely understand this, and I appreciate the fact that other people also need to be seen, but as an established patient with my history I did everything I was supposed to do, when I was told to do it, only to find out they are too busy to properly follow up on my care. I asked why they would send me a letter telling me to call and schedule my August appointment when they knew they were already scheduling 8 months out but didn’t get an answer. It seems as though some thought needs to be put into how many more patients can be taken by physicians at this practice if they are unable to follow up in a timely manner. I’m trying to be proactive in my colon health and it is a little daunting to know that with each procedure I have had pre-cancerous polyps, so the fact that I keep getting brushed aside is very unsettling. I was able to change providers to another group in Cedar Rapids today and got my procedure scheduled within 2 1/2 months (first of December). The new practice even gave me priority because this is not a screening procedure but a necessary follow up. For those of you lucky enough to have appointments or procedures with Dr. Purdy you will be in great hands, but I don’t feel valued or respected as a patient any longer at this practice."
"I recently had my colonoscopy and dr.purdy I would like to thank him and his team he was very professional and put my mind at ease awesome job dr.purdy and his staff I would highly recommend Dr purdy for colonoscopy."
"The staff is friendly, and I had no issues with my initial visit and testing. My problem began once I returned my lactose intolerance test kit. A nurse called me while I was working and left a message. I have returned this call multiple times, only to get someone's voicemail each time and never hear back. Every other clinic, hospital, and business I've dealt with has people answering phone calls. This one sends you straight to voicemail. I just want to know the results of my test, and they haven't even bothered to mail me a letter! Terrible patient care."
"I have had years of problems with little to no interest in investigating the source by my providers by past providers until my new primary care provider, Nicole Wooley, sent me to Molly. One visit and three simple testing kits later i have my diagnosis and remarkable follow ups by nurse Kerri. Her patience, suggestions and guidance has been impressive. I am so grateful for the referral and my recent association with Unity Point services."
"I would give 0 stars if I could. My husband's provider told him he could no longer help him. Very unbelievable because he very obviously has a gastrointestinal problem and they have hardly done anything to try and find the problem. Called and talked to a scheduler about getting a second opinion from a different provider at the office, and was told "we don't do second opinions here". Immediately had an attitude and was extremely rude to me. I would call the office manager and make a complaint but not worth my time. Just want others to know this office is rude and the staff seems to have no problem kicking you when you're already down. Very disappointed that this office refuses to help my husband who is extremely sick. All healthcare for my family will be transferred to Mercy after this experience."
