"My 4 year old has been going to PCI ENT since he was 2 and we normally have great staff. We love Dr. Giesler-Spellman and have had Angela and Brandy for our audiologist many times. This time we had an audiologist named Abigail. Abigail has terrible bedside manner and does not explain things to little children. Her expectations were "sit in the chair, don't move and be perfect" she was putting devices in my son's ears without explaining to him what she was doing. Normally the staff blow bubbles for him and have a really neat spinning light that they give to him to make it more fun. Abigail didn't offer any of these items and the items were sitting right at his eye level. My son remembers and he kept asking for bubbles and she blatantly ignored him. Barely even spoke to him or provided encouraging words. I had to kneel down and explain the procedure to my son bc she was NOT explaining ANYTHING to him. Not all children are the same. Some children need more help than others and Abigail failed to realize this as a provider. I was so disgusted with the appt that I called and spoke to Kevin, the office manager who was also less than helpful. My son has sensory issues and just him sitting in the chair and allowing someone to put a headset on him and stick devices in his ears, is moving mountains in his development. My son was becoming anxious and I assured him it was ok and said it's tough for a 4 year old to sit and have all these devices and tests done, to which Abigail replied "not really". Very rude and unprofessional. We will not see Abigail again."
"If you are looking for a rushed , insensitive and unprofessional experience this is your place! Thankfully I trusted my gut after leaving PCI ENT with my 3 year old and got a 2nd opinion at ENT in Iowa City. Today the day he would have had surgery at PCI only addressing 1 of the 3 issues we solved a week and a half ago somewhere else he is on to recovery. PS - PCI has an additional charge on top of the procedure."
"Each appt was told nothing to see. Having constant jaw numbness and ear popping and keep biting inner cheek because they are swollen. Apparently too busy to do a cheek biopsy to see what going on. Unbelievable!"
"Visit was very rushed, I was told my diagnosis, (fungal ball, severely deviated septum) and told I needed surgery and was explained what the surgery would intel in all of 15 seconds. She quickly showed me my ct scan for like another 15 seconds, not showing me my turbinates that she wanted to reduce or discuss how she would be doing it.. radio frequency, cutting them, ect ect. She didnt even show me why they needed to be except saying it'll help me breath better.. nothing was wrong with my breathing. same with my "severely deviated septum" that she wanted to fix.. which was news to me because no one has ever told me I had a deviated septum, and she didnt even take the time to show me on the ct scan, She just showed me some fungal ball i had in my cheek..then she only named off 2 possible risks from having the surgery of a maxillary astronomy, septoplasty and turbinate reduction and asked if i had questions which at the time i was still processing what she told me so i said no and she left the room and said see you the day of surgery.. Later that night I logged into my chart and was going through the notes from the visit, just to re go over everything and i was shocked when i read that she explained all the risks with me and named off like 15 different potential risks, which she never discussed in office. She also left out the part of the possibility of empty nose syndrome from the procedure on my turbinates on paper or in person. I felt like I wasn't cared about as a patient or a person. Like you're about to cut into my face, you could have showed more compassion and explained things more thoroughly. Even if I need surgery, it definitely won't be with geisler. She's not the same person she once was. Edit: so I have seen 2 other ent's since seeing Dr geisler and BOTH confirmed I definitely don't need surgery. My septum is barely deviated and was told 80% of the population has some sort of deviation and mine was perfectly fine and not causeing issues. Also that my turbinates look perfectly fine. Also that spot in my cheek was not a fungal ball but a piece of a tooth root fragment that broke off when I had a tooth pulled years ago and made its way into my maxillary sinus, which I guess is quite common and isn't possing any risk. And if she would have took a few more min and really looked at the ct scan she could have seen it because each tooth root has a Canal running threw it where your nerves run and you can clearly see it in the ct scan if you look closely, which she did not.. she would have had me go threw 3 procedures for nothing which each procedure posts a number of risks, for nothing other then money is my guess because nothing was wrong.."
