"Smells bad here, bad roads and mean workers everywhere."

"Google maps took me through unnamed roads and authorized personnel only areas to get to this "birding area" ... we encountered an animal carcass along the way. Not a single soul in the entire area. Felt really sketchy. Didn't feel like a place we should be visiting. Saw American Coots and that's about it. Would not recommend. At all."

"Good quality road easily accessible in any car, and solid birds for the middle of summer in the desert - had avocets, a least sandpiper, white-faced ibis, and more, even a pair of snowy plovers. Lots of good marsh habitat in the various blocked out chunks of lakebed. Probably best to go on a day when construction isn’t happening - so weekends/holidays. I’ll definitely have to go back in a cooler month when there’s more ducks. I *would* thank LADWP for the well maintained roads and easy access, but that would be a bit silly considering they are the entire reason the rest of Owens lake is a destroyed hellscape - although there is a lot of water on the lakebed south of the southernmost barrier road right now."
