"I go because it's nostalgic. I used to stay with my family when I was a child, during the park's glory days. Now, there are more people living at the resort that can't afford San Diego rather than affluent RV enthusiasts. It's not at all like it once was. The amenities are a bit run down. The pool barely qualifies as heated. The community center lacks community and events. I remember there being pancake breakfasts and crafts and so many activities! The park is a shadow of its former self. But all in all, it's a good place to unplug and get away for a few days."
"The good: The surroundings are beautiful! Only 30 min from San Diego Warm and receptive staff called to confirm beforehand - I love the little things like confirming beforehand. Generally nice other campers, although definitely some run down sites The bad: Still mostly 30 amp Sites are… interesting. We had to park like 15 feet away from our hookups because of how unlevel it was They have a rule that they only give you packages a few hrs of the day (2-4 and maybe 7-8?). (Also, this was not listed in their email of rules that gets sent out before). A very silly not customer focused rule. I had my son’s birthday presents shipped there, we were there for like 3 days. During the day we would leave the campground to see the city. When I explained this to the guardhouse he informed me he would not be able to accommodate getting my 7 year olds presents out of the shed early because “if everyone else saw they would expect special treatment too.” DUDE. I asked him like 3 times. So on our last day seeing the city a member of our crew stayed behind and missed out so someone could be there in time for the 2-4 window of getting packages. I have thought before of upping our membership from a trials collection to something that would allow us to stay longer. Experiences like this remind me to keep TT as it is - as a last resort. We moved 1 hr away to a 50 amp FHU pad site for $490 a week. I’m ok with paying as long as I don’t have to follow summer camp style rules for when I can collect mail. :)"
"We have been a TT member for 15 years and Pico Pico is a half way decent campground. The staff is very friendly and we had one staff member who helped us find a spot in E section which is full hook ups and nice size spots. Thank you for that since it was the last full hook up spot. I wish TT would assign spots like all the rest of the campgrounds you go to, they use to many years ago when we first joined. Some of the leased spots are not kept so well . They should monitor how the leased spots look this would definitely help with the appearance of the campground. It is a good location if going to San Diego only an 30 min ride. Campground was peaceful and quiet. Overall this TT is a decent campground."
"My family loved the large, peaceful campground. Lisa in the front office was caring, patient, and understanding. The rangers and staff were on top of everything going on around the campground. It made my family feel safe. The views and trailhead are amazing. The park has many hills that the kids love riding their scooters down. The west pool was heated during the winter, and the hot tub was hot. We stayed in Cabin C40. I'm looking forward to our next visit!"
"Nice park all in all. Decent sized spaces. A bit away from everything and in the hills. Half the park is closed for maintenance right now. Only half the park has full hookups which are difficult to get... First come first serve. Too many empty annual, leased, retail sites and not enough member sites available. Constant border patrol activity, Helicopters, vehicles. Coyotes all over so watch your pets. Nice pools and hot tubs."
