Lake Anita State Park
About the Business
Lake Anita State Park is a beautiful outdoor recreation destination located in Anita, Iowa. Constructed in the 1960s, this 1,062-acre park features a stunning 171-acre artificial lake that offers excellent fishing and boating opportunities. Visitors can enjoy over five miles of trails that wind through restored prairie and diverse habitats, perfect for walking or biking. The park also offers fishing jetties, boat ramps, and dock space for pontoon boats.
Campers can choose from a variety of campsites near the lake, including electric, non-electric, and full hook-up sites. There are three modern showers and restrooms available, with one-fourth of the campsites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations can be made online for campsites and open shelters at Lake Anita State Park.
The park also offers seven open shelters for outdoor gatherings, with Shelter 1 being ADA accessible. Picnic areas overlook the lake, providing a picturesque setting for visitors. Due to a water leak, the water is currently shut off to the south side of the park, but pit latrines are available at various locations throughout the park.
During the winter season, all modern restrooms and showers are closed, but electricity, frost-free hydrants, and sewer drains are still available at the campsites. Pit latrines are open at the boat ramps, picnic area, and dam. Restrooms will reopen around April 15th, depending on the weather.
Experience the natural beauty of Iowa at Lake Anita State Park and support conservation efforts by purchasing a natural resource plate for your vehicle. Enjoy all the outdoor activities and amenities this park has to offer, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Reviews
"Good experience to stay at Lake Anita campground. everything organized and humanized facility designed for everyone to use. Also, beautiful view in the park. I highly recommend to visit this beautiful park."
"Spacious campsites, full hookups available, plenty of grass but limited shade. Easy access to I-80 for travelers. Water quality is poor (typical for Iowa) and swimming is discouraged."
"Most well-maintained state park and camping experience ever! Bathrooms are clean, showers are hot (and free), campsites are numerous. The lake is very pretty! Also, they put on free Saturday night movies with free popcorn! What a place! And only $14 to camp. This is truly an Iowan and American gem."
"My wife & I, and some friends, spent a couple days and nights here recently. Absolutely loved it! We especially appreciated the "kayak launch docks" located in several places. Beautiful scenery, a good biking/hiking trail, and clean bathrooms. We'll be back."
"One of America's best state parks! Well maintained and they have a kayak launcher for kayaking in Lake Anita. I didn't want to leave this place. Free admission and plenty of parking. I highly recommend visiting this park!"
