"Update October 31, 2023: My previous review (below) was written in fall of of 2022. Unfortunately, Latisha no longer works with HABA, and as a result, they no longer have reliable stylists for African-American hair. I'm not even sure supervisors there are even capable of admitting that African-American hair requires stylists with specialized training. (When I called, I was told that curly hair was curly hair---whether it was Caucasian-curly or African-American-curly.) But more importantly, I had an appointment set for a few weeks ago for an essential update to care for my African-American curls--a service I had done regularly done at HABA with stylists Latisha and Special over the last three years in order for my hair to stay healthy. The owner called a few days after making and confirming the appointment and said she would only offer a service three times the cost to me. I felt totally scammed. (She was even the one I had directly made the appointment with the few days prior--so it wasn't some miscommunication among staff.) The owner knew I needed the service and used it as an opportunity to make triple the money on me. I went to Chicago instead for this hair service, where of course there are stylists with ample experience styling African-American hair. I will never go back to HABA salon and I can no longer in good faith recommend them for the hair needs of African-American women or men. From November 2022: Latisha was an artist with my hair. I had never experienced a hair appointment like this, where we discussed our plans before hand. I showed her photos of what I liked and didn't like about my hair. She entirely understood my "vision," incorporated her own mastery/knowledge of curly hair, and I came out of HABA feeling like a new and improved and confident person. I went to a banquet that evening and I received so many compliments. I felt like a new me. Thank you, HABA."

"Almost beyond description. We moved to Albany, NY 2 years ago, forcing me with great trepidation to find a new barber/hair stylist. I have been lucky in that regard but always look forward to return visits with Gary. Many reasons this visit was special: on my head and in my heart. So good to experience once again Gary's duet through the mirror and in my eyes and ears. Already looking forward to my next (November) visit!"

"Absolutely the BEST haircut, color and style - I have EVER had !!! Believe me and I am old - so that say’s a lot !!! Sherry, is so personable and talented and truly listens to what you are wanting. The color and style is exactly what I had been trying to achieve, for the last several years. All of the stylist are truly very professional and welcoming. The stylist really take pride in their craft and insure clients receive the experience and ultimate look they LOVE!! You can feel how they all work as a team. Which is pretty rare these days . They have a fantastic selection of products - which I was very happy about !!! The salon itself is very clean and cozy environment. So glad my daughter suggested this salon !! Lisa"
