"My first visit to Harry's. Gluten-free pancakes are on the menu. I asked if they made GF waffles; it seemed like they may not have in the past, but the chef said he could make a gluten-free waffle for me. I am uncertain of the cost as iI did not see or pay the bill (another ember of our party did). I haven't ever been to a restaurant that had GF waffles, so it was a special treat for me! It wasn't crowded at 830 am on Friday. Amanda was an attentive server and was very pleasant. Looking forward to trying the GF pancakes and several unique omelets on future occasions."
"I'm kicking myself for waiting this long to stop in and give Harry's a try. I spotted at least a dozen menu items that sounded amazing, but I settled on the cinnamon French toast with a side of bacon. Everything was perfect, and I already have my next several orders planned out. Service was great too. I don't think my coffee mug stayed empty for more than a few seconds at a time. To me, that constant flow of coffee is one of the signs of a great breakfast diner. I had read about this place opening in local newspaper articles, so it was cool to see all the decor celebrating the owner's father and the impact he had on Iowa City. Though they've only been open for a few months, Harry's feels like an Iowa City classic that's just kind of always been here, and I hope they stick around for a very long time."
"Our first time at Harry’s was an excellent experience! The Philly Cheesesteak was incredible, and I appreciate that they try to source ingredients locally as much as possible. The lavender gin fizz was also very tasty. The service was quick and pleasant, and the atmosphere/decorating was very fun - a nice ode to Epstein Books."
"Ordered the garden variety omelette. They were happy to make it with egg whites and no onion or hollandaise for me. It was absolutely amazing! Good bloody Mary's and Irish coffee to boot. A must try for locals and visitors alike. Also, they play great music..."
"I was very excited to go here based on my moms experience. However this was a huge disappointment for me. We waited an hour from ordering to get our food. A burger and French toast. That’s it. My burger was basically inedible. Hockey puck tho I ordered medium. The bun on the bottom was so stale it shattered. Slaw a pink soupy mess. French toast was decent. They did give me 30% off for the long wait which I appreciated and the main guy manager/owner seemed like a good guy. I am going to chalk it up to being a new place but have no plans to return anytime soon. If they are still kicking in six months I may try again."
