"We were big fans of our experience at the Early Bird in Ankeny and our server Carla. She recommended the special tots for an appetizer and they were tasty. The options are many and I am sure anyone can find something to enjoy from the menu. My wife enjoyed the breakfast pot pie and said she would order it again. I opted for a Sandwhich and some cinnamon roll french toast. Both were great! The grits were on point as well, but I am a sucker for andoullie sausage. All in all we were happy and will return."

"The staff allowed us to choose our own seats because they weren't busy. It was a Tuesday before 11am. Our server was also the bartender and she kicked butt! She greeted us with waters, drinks came out swiftly, and all the food was made just as we ordered! Everything was perfect! The food was absolutely delicious!"

"We went on a Sunday morning, and sat at the bar to avoid a long wait. It was very busy, but very good! We will be back. I had a beermosa and the avocado number, and would get botb again. My husband had a triple bacon bloody mary that he would skip, but he absolutely loved his chicken fried steak plate. We shared the croquettes as a starter and they were excellent. Highly recommend, but know that it will be very busy on a weekend day."

"Thanks to a recommendation from a family member, my wife and I stopped off here on our way back to the Twin Cities after taking in an Iowa Wild game in DSM. I had the a.m. Pot Pie and my wife had the huevos rancheros. Both were awesome. Our waitress, Sara, was super prompt, courteous and efficient. We did not dawdle, however, from the time we ordered, to the time we were done eating, it was 20 minutes tops. We sat near the kitchen, and had a “birds eye” view of the well oiled machine that is the kitchen staff. We will undoubtedly return next year when we swing through in our annual pilgrimage to DSM, however, I wish we had an Early Bird in the Twin Cities."

"Great food and drink selection. They had some unique brunch items along with the standards and everything was fantastic. Our server, Noah, was fantastic. One of the best servers, he was attentive and friendly...just perfect. Top notch establishment and will definitely be back."
