"In from out of state and came for breakfast on a Saturday morning. It’s not busy. The host said good morning to us in passing as she grabbed menus and walked away. We hung back unsure if she was taking us to a table. Another server said we could follow that host who walked away. She looked back at us as if we should have know. Then put our menus on a table and walked away. The entire restaurant was open and we were sat next to a table with a large family and a baby. The mom sat turned around the majority of the time. The baby was tossing things from the table our way. Plenty of places to sit and we were sat here. I don’t understand. I ordered over medium eggs and said I do not like them slimy. My husband ordered hard eggs. Mine came super runny and slimy and my husbands came the same. He had to send his back. I just didn’t eat mine. The bacon was extra crispy and my husbands toast was all but burnt. Over all we are not pleased."

"I've been here several times now. Super tasty dinner food at very reasonable prices (around $10-$12/person). They have a dedicated ice cream bar, but I haven't tried it yet. I highly recommend this place."

"We had an excellent experience, got seated fast, waitress was friendly and efficient and the good was yummy. I had blackened salmon and a side salad with French. The salmon was delish and so was the salad best French dressing I've tasted, the waitress told us that they make most of their dressings. Breakfast is served all day so my grand daughter got cinnamon French toast and said it was yummy. My husband got a cheeseburger and onion rings and it was great too. Will definitely go back."

"A classic diner. The waiting area is pretty small & cramped but the food more than makes up for it. The breakfast was really good, the service was alright the day we were there although our waitress could have stopped to check on us a little bit more, & the atmosphere of the restaurant is what you would expect an old school type of diner to be. Definitely a good place to eat in Ankeny"

"A hidden gem. We visit the Des Moines area often and, although I have heard about this restaurant before, we have never had the opportunity to stop. We stopped last night and are glad we did. The atmosphere was pretty cool and cozy. The prices were very reasonable and the food was very good. It was also neat to see how much they make from scratch. The spaghetti sauce was made from scratch. This place is not gourmet by any means, but it is good, solid food that should please the whole family at a very affordable price. We will be back."
