"I paid my policy in full for a year. Now before it expires Auto Owners plans to cancel my policy, charge an extra fee, in addition to raising my rate nearly $1,000 a year for commercial insurance, even though I have have not used any aspect of the coverage for any means. The company will not say why the early cancellation 3 weeks before renewal. My agent will not answer the phone nor return calls. I did get one agent from my carrier she hung up on me as I asked why. All I can say is good, as in goodbye. In all my years of insured this is the worst company I have ever dealt with. So the agent and auto Owners won't have to hear my complaint, will never come back."
"An auto owners policyholder crashed my car a month ago, I have been trying to talk to Molly since she got the police report stating that her policyholder was at fault, and she refused to talk to me or my insurance company, before the report arrived. If the police answered me to tell me that they would only pay half, now that it has arrived they do not want to answer, the best thing in these cases is to get a lawyer"
"If I could give zero stars I would. My vehicle was hit by a Nationwide client. She did not report the accident until 27 days after the fact. I, unfortunately, had to open a claim with my own insurance, which sadly is Auto Owners. I will NEVER go through them for another vehicle. They sat on the claim for two weeks before anything was done. Then, the person who did the assessment of the damage left off a huge portion of the visible damage by mistake. Therefore we had to wait for the assessor to go to the body shop and re-assess to determine if it was totaled or repairable. My car sat at the body shop for ten days before they called me on a Monday afternoon at 4pm (the body shop told me it was totaled at around 9am that morning so they had communicated with them but not me) and I was told I have to return the rental vehicle (policy max benefit not met yet) by Friday. I work in healthcare, 10 hours a day Monday through Thursday from 7:30 to 5:30, therefore I have zero opportunity to truly shop for another vehicle as most dealerships close around 7 and I would not be able to get there until 6. They refuse to let me have the rental for a weekend when I can actually do something about it after leaving me hanging in limbo for weeks on end. They will leave you hanging and then the moment they finally make a decision, they will screw you over in any and every way possible. I was scolded for communicating with the body shop directly by one of the employees I spoke with. This company is an absolute nightmare and all I can say is run. They do not care. They will not see another dime from me. This has been the most horrific experience I've ever had working with insurance on an accident that wasn't my fault. I was rear ended and left high and dry by the person's insurance and my own insurance has abandoned me. HORRIBLE!"
"I was the victim of a hit and run by your insured. The driver was from Michigan and after 30 days they transferred the claim to Iowa. But before that, they said they issued me a check. They never happened, Erin Hanson from Iowa said it was only the mirror. The police estimated $2,500 been 50 days and no payment. If this is how they treat me, think if your insured with them."
"Worst customer service and what's worse is feeling you're not supported. I was in an accident 4 months ago, where the other driver ran through a red light. I called all the businesses the next day and found out one of them had footage and same day I informed my adjuster. Fast forward 6-8 weeks after little to no communication I went in person to speak with office supervisor and still NOTHING! Here's the kicker... you would think they would want to get back the $17,000 from the other insurance company and all they had to do was obtain the footage of the accident."
