"First time dining since the remodel, and it's even better than I remember. Food is pure comfort and exactly what you'd expect from a greasy spoon, but with the added flair of truly fresh avocado, amazing pulled pork, and deliciously crispy hash browns. Maybe a smidge crowded, but worth the squeeze for the amazing food and great service. Will be back for sure."
"My husband and I ordered the fried onion burger and eggs Benedict. The burger was juicy and nice and had nicely salted curly fries on the side. The eggs Benedict was done pretty well and had hash browns which were slightly under salted. Both the dishes were flavourful. The portion size was pretty decent. The ambience was nice. Service was good too. All in all, we had a good diner experience here after the travesty at Bluebird's."
"Absolutely loved it! My daughter and I went! I've eaten biscuits and gravy many places, and no one beats Hardee's, until now! Combine that with a great atmosphere and excellent service, ask for Sophie, you'll have a great dining experience! We will definitely be back next time we're in town!!"
"First time eating here since the remodel. Corn beef hash was really good. Big chunks of corn beef and the hashbrowns were really good. Omelette was good and choc chip pancakes nice and fluffy. We didn’t wait long either. I like that they have kept the food basic and traditional. There is a real try-hard vibe in a lot of the downtown restaurants where they try so hard to be trendy and unique that the food winds up sucking. Hamburg keeps it simple. Only complaint was the portion was kinda small for 14.50 plate of short order food. But compared to the choices down here I. E. — bluebird Harry’s and dandy lion I would take Hamburg for solid food, pretty fast service and a good waitress. Glad to see this place back on its feet."
"Very well done update. Service and Food were good. So nice to see the respect for an old Iowa City Northside restaurant"
