"Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Neal Smith NWR. It's such a beautiful location. The staff in the visitor center were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We were fortunate to see two of the majestic bull elk, in addition to many buffalo while on the wildlife drive. I hope to come back again when it's warmer and the summer birds have returned."
"Great Service and place completely free and fun, there was a scavenger hunt and different animals and things. There is a super good telescope you can see really far. Also There is the refuge with Bison, Elk and other things. YOU NEED TO COME HERE!!! There is also a trail there. Had a great time visiting today."
"I wasn't able to drive on the trails as they were much too messy with the snow, but the visitor center is amazing!! Absolutely amazing staff, really cool exhibits, and completely wheelchair accessible throughout. They even are working on setting up protocols so that visitors can borrow an all-terrain tracked wheelchair to explore the trails! I went this time to get my National Park Access Pass, but I will definitely be back again!"
"For about 20 years, we have seen the brown signs on the highway about this place. We finally stopped. We should have done it sooner. It was well worth the visit. This is a very nice, clean, professional, educational display of prairie life in Iowa . This would be good for any age, but especially school children. Very well done! The facilities are nice. They do have a gift shop."
"Worth a walk on any of the trails. Amazed by the variety of flowers and plants. Great views. No Buffalo in view today but saw a couple on way out of the park. Wish the property was open but it is open on a limited schedule. I did not find the limited schedule on the internet. Also with the facility would have better maintenance. Lots of little stuff that should be done seems to be piling up."
