Hot Springs Cut-off Trailhead
About the Business
The Hot Springs Cut-off Trailhead is a popular tourist attraction located at 3415 Hot Springs Road in Markleeville, California. The campground is currently closed for the season, but reservations for the next season can be made on Reserve California's website. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and are not allowed in the hot springs pool complex. Visitors can reserve campsites and lodging up to six months in advance, with winter camping available in the picnic area starting on October 25, 2023.
Bear activity is common in the area, so all food and scented items must be stored in the provided metal food lockers both day and night. There are no hook-ups or dump stations in the park, and camping is generally available year-round. The park offers a variety of day use activities, including picnicking, hiking, and swimming in the mineral pools. Interpretive programs are available during the summer season.
Surrounded by alpine meadows and pine forests, Grover Hot Springs State Park offers stunning views of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The park features hot springs pools, a campground, hiking trails, and fishing streams. Visitors can experience a range of weather conditions throughout the year, from blizzards to thunderstorms. Proper preparation is essential for a safe and comfortable visit to the park.
The unique color of the hot springs pool is due to mineral deposits on the bottom, which react with the sanitizing agent used in the water. Winter months can be very cold with heavy snowstorms, while late spring and early summer offer clear skies and warm days. Weekends and holidays are the busiest times at the park, so pool reservations are recommended. For the latest information on park hours and operations, visitors can call (530) 694-2248.

"The hot spring is between 100 and 104 degrees when we were there or was it a hundred for the whole time it's very relaxing and soothing beautiful scenery enjoyable"
"The signs say Grover hot spring the pamphlet say Grover hot springs so I am unsure what the name would be since it came up under this. What a nice place to detour to. One large hot spring pool outside in the open another fresh water pool next to it. $10 each person gets you a day pass come and go as you please till close dont forget to get a stamp. Hiking all around, but we had plans that would keep is from going hiking. The water wasn't that hot, but it sure was clean and well kept up. Again a nice detour for anyone who digs hot spring. We would return."
"This place is kinda popular for the cheap price. It is run by the state of California and you can not expect extras. They have the rule of capacity of 50 people which means you can spend a couple of hours waiting in line before you get soaked. The place needs to be remodeled. It would be a great thing if they made SEVERAL hot water pools since mostly people use the hot water pool. A small affordable restaurant would be a big plus. The best time to visit - any winter morning. Since they change water once a week on Wednesday, the Thursday morning is the best. Nice scenery around. Great place for hiking. Don't forget to respect other people and behave properly."
