Reviews
"David J. Reed is an outstanding custody lawyer who genuinely cares about his clients and their families. He demonstrated exceptional knowledge and skill in handling my custody case, always putting my children's well-being first. His dedication to achieving a favorable outcome was evident throughout the process. I couldn't have asked for a better advocate for my children's future."
"Seemed like a good choice at the beginning. He was then in the law firm Jorgensen & Reed. Once they started working on the high profile "Garcia Case" I should have changed firms. When we went to court he shuffled papers looking for things he had not much of a clue on what he was presenting. His paralegal Austin new far more about my case than David ever did. There was court document filed with the Clerk of Dist court to cancel my case due to inactivity that I was NEVER informed of and when I found it on a computer in the court house and inquired on it I was told that he thought my soon to be former spouse had stopped paying his attorney. Not true at all. He had failed to follow through on issues in regard to my case. He then scrambled to get the case reinstated. I was never informed "by him" of any of this. Billing was hit and miss and I had to repeatedly email requesting detailed billing. After paying $5000.00 on retainer, I received a bill for $10,000.00 that said "TRIAL" no detail at on how much time was for trial prep, the trial itself, documents, etc. In the end my divorce decree read "not much testimony to this" in several places. I was married for 23 years. I was court ordered out of marital home before we even went to trial, while the spouse was living in another house and the house I was court ordered out of remained vacant throughout the duration of the divorce proceedings. The only thing I was awarded was a 15 year old car while the spouse had a truck, a passenger car and a motorcycle all newer than the car I was awarded, and a camper valued at 2500.00 that I had to sell to help pay on David Reed's attorney fees. The law firm that he was in at the time has since restructured due to his partner Jeremy Jorgensen) losing his law license due to other clients siting negligence from the work they were doing on the high profile Garcia case, which the lost, after being awarded $25,000.00 from the county to pay for their defense work. He is now in a law firm called Vandenbosch & Reed, LLC. All of this can be verified. Just go to the court house and look up his work, record. Many more details to this story but not enough space here. I would not recommend this attorney to anyone ever. Some how he has mostly managed to keep his identity out of the media with regard to the entire Garcia debacle, people were not so interested in hearing my pleas for justice on him and his inept/thoughtless and negligent attention to and handling of my case, but in light of all that is coming out now about Jeremy Jorgensen and the fact that he is now incarcerated, people are much more interested in the facts of my case and correspondence between me as his client and him as my "legal counsel". As well as a long message he left on my phone trying frantically to explain away a definite over charge on one of the billing statements I received. He ended up sending a $1100.00 check to me as a "so called" refund for an "erroneous" charge on my invoice. The entire thing was a nightmare with a final decision that I can not change nor do I have the money to pursue. So my rating is one star only because there is no negative star option, and is backed with real truth in these details that can all be verified as factual. I am in the process of correspondence with the Bar Association and Nebraska State Counsel for Discipline with regard to the details of this case and the money I was charged for this inept service from David Reed. 23 years of marriage and I was left with next to nothing, to start again in my 50's. Well ok I am up to it, however, on top of that I have been ordered to pay him (former spouse) half of my pension each month while working at new career making far less than I was at the job I retired from at the request of the spouse approximately six months before he filed for divorce. We worked at the same place. David Reed fought for nothing in my case and then blamed it all on the Judges decision. I'd say he made a back room deal with opposing counsel but of course could never prove that."
"Over 2 years of money spent for a lawyer that does not care about his clients. He is forgetful, full of excuses, doesn't respond in a timely manner or not at all, cancel's appts, postpones court dates, and seems forgetful and confused. You can upload all your docs to him and he will swear he never received them. Just another excuse to buy time and collect. He is not honest or work in the best interest for his clients. Our experience with David Reed was terrible and his paralegal is clueless. He did nothing to favor our case but only to support the defendant. He is also representing a friend of mine going through the very same experience. Never will I recommend him again. If you are working with him, FIRE HIM! Get a lawyer that will works for you."
"I would give negative stars if I could. Whatever you do, don’t hire David Reed. David Reed doesn’t care about his clients. He will take advantage of you by dragging things out so he can charge you more. He is very rude and lies to you. I caught him in four different lies, so don’t trust a word he says. His paralegal doesn’t have a clue what she’s doing. She text me other people’s information multiple times and has no clue how to read a calendar. David Reed is a thief. He will gladly take your money but not accomplish anything. He will make it look like you don’t care about your case to the judge. Do yourself a favor and hire anyone else. I am reporting him to Mark Weber the Nebraska Supreme Court Counsel for Discipline."
"I'm so sorry to leave this negative review. But I feel obligated to warn others in their help search for a reputable attorney. I only wish we had checked out his reviews closer. First of all, David is a very nice, personable individual, very likable. His intentions are good. But please pay close attention to negative reviews. I won't get into too many details but a few examples - he constantly rescheduled appointments, it was hard to actually talk to him via phone. He missed several filing deadlines to our detriment. He completely neglected to file essential documents. Very disorganized in handling our personal information and forms and repeatedly asked for resubmission of duplicate forms Save yourself money, mental anguish and anxiety. We had to ask him to withdraw from our case and retain alternate counsel after working with him since June 2022 - Dec 2022. Best of luck. We are in the process of filing a grievance with the Nebraska Judicial Board."
