Gianna's Italian Beef

"Came here for a Chicago style Italian beef sandwich and it was one of the best I’ve had! When I walked up to the restaurant I noticed a man with a cane sweeping the public sidewalk outside with great detail. He was dressed classy and I could tell he was likely the owner. Sure enough he came through the restaurant checking on the patrons. I learned that he is a Marine vet and owns the restaurant with another Marine vet. The sense of pride he has in caring for his business and serving his customers is a rarity these days."

"Meh... This place was okay. Food was okay. I liked the food, but cant say I enjoyed it I have had better. The lights were all OFF. The lights look so WARM and INVITING but yet they were off so on a cold day it doesn't help warm up the atmosphere. The service seemed to take a while. I am not sure why it seemed so slow. Parking is crazy downtown and with the snow it doesn't help. Finding a parking spot took a few passes and a minute or 2 of waiting. If I were on foot downtown I might be more willing to try this place again. I'll likely wait till summer when the vibe is more energetic."

"Hidden gem in the heart of downtown! The food is beyond your expectations in terms of taste and quality! The chicago dog has me dreaming about the next time I can get one. Prices are low, especially for the huge portions. We met the owner on our late afternoon stop, and he was incredibly warm and welcoming; he stopped by every customer to chat and thank them for stopping in. Please keep this place busy! I know I'll be going back as much as possible! I can't wait to get the Italian beef!"

"I always enjoy coming to Gianna's when I want an Italian beef when I am missing Chicago. Today, I ordered an Italian beef with a large fry and a side of gravy because I love my bread SOAKED in gravy. It did not disappoint and I enjoyed every bite of it. Definitely coming back for more!"

"The food is excellent. That’s about it for the positives. The service leaves a lot to be desired. The young lady who works most days is very sweet. The service is slow and sometimes she doesn’t have adequate help. The drinks are always “sold out” and the ketchup is rarely refilled and splatters everywhere. Management/owners don’t seem to care nor acknowledge when offered suggestions about making things better. I want to love Gianna’s but every visit (5) is greeted with issues."
