"A year later my pool pump Paul installed keeps turning off. He's not responsive to text messages and I keep having to wait on him promising to get out to see me then he never shows up. Don't rely on him to help troubleshoot equipment you've paid him to originally install professionally."
"I have weekly service with Royal Blue Pools and now I have algae in my pool. My service is every Tuesday. On Thursday/Friday I noticed what seemed to be maybe dirt but by Saturday it was clearly Algae. I then tested the chemicals myself to find that my PH was unbelievably high and my Chlorine levels were basically at zero. The owner Paul takes zero responsibility and he blames my salt system. The same salt system that is only 1 year old and I had no issues last year with 120 degree heat. It isn't even hot yet. Barely a handful of days in the high 90's and he is blaming my salt system and not the service is unacceptable. Paul told me that my chemicals were perfect on Tuesday but somehow by Friday/Saturday I had Algae in 80-90 degree weather. It is impossible to have algae in a pool in that kind of weather with perfect chemical balance just 3-4 days later. I am just glad that I caught it myself because as the heat rises and with the incompetency of Royal Blue pools I would have had a massive amount of algae in my pool and then I would have had a major problem. On a side note I was charged for 7-8 bags of salt and they only put 2 bags of Salt in my pool. 1 of which was mine that was already there. Companies forget that nowadays people have cameras everywhere and can monitor everything that happens on there property. Please Please don't use Royal Blue Pool Service. I have attached pictures of the chlorine/PH levels I personally took just 3-4 days after Paul said the chemicals were perfect and I posted the start of the algae pictures in my pool. Thank goodness its not hot yet otherwise there would have been a major problem!!"
"Great end-to-end customer experience, top quality parts, exceptional service (in the office and in the field). I had the most amazing experience with Royal Blue Pools and, it was one of those dreaded warranty claims that both homeowners and contractors both have to fight hard to get covered items handled properly. Late on a Wednesday (6pm, after business hours), the top half of my Filter Tank exploded when a heat-related crack finally gave way. I filed the claim online with my warranty company by 8pm (Wednesday night). The warranty company assigned Royal Blue Pools. Roughly an hour later (9pm Wednesday night), I left a voice message at Royal Blue Pools (outbound message indicated it was Debbie) to advise my claim was coming their way and that I was hoping they could fit me in as soon as possible (note: Royal Blue Pools, like most companies, doesn't open until 8am). Much to my surprise, I received a text message from Debbie at 6:18am asking me to send pictures so they could begin the process of locating a replacement ASAP. Wow ... this shocked me in the midst of the current "scam-demic" where many use this as an opportunity to delay response times and jack up parts/labor prices. I sent the pictures by 6:30am and Debbie immediately advised that she would have a technician come out this same day (Thursday). At this point, I didn't know if I was dreaming but, thankfully, I had stumbled upon a contractor that treated my (pool) emergency with the same urgency/importance as they would for their own family member. Paul (the owner) managed fit me into his busy schedule by midday Thursday. Paul concurred that the tank had lived a long and productive life (13-14 year old) but was now toast. Paul informed me that he would (if necessary) fight on my behalf with the warranty company to have the entire unit replaced since the bottom half of the filter tank had also suffered from the same ravages of heat over time. These units operate under high pressure and can be dangerous. Paul did still one better ... he was able to have my warranty company approve an entire replacement "kit" (a $1250-$1450 parts package, excluding labor, from my research) – i.e., new Pentair upper and lower tank, new filters (say what?! wow!!), new metal collar, new O-Rings (throughout), new air release valve, etc. By Friday morning (pool now out of service only Thursday and part of Friday morning), Paul was at my door with parts in tow and ready to install the new unit. Paul assured me he would stand behind everything for the next year (note: warranty companies extend follow-up for 6 months). I am one to do my homework and I’m certainly not an easy person to please. I take recommendations (good & bad) seriously. I will research contractors on NextDoor, Yelp and Google. I have the utmost respect and appreciation for the end-to-end experience provided by Royal Blue Pools. I have added them to my preferred contractor list for both warranty and non-warranty repairs and service."
"Absolutely the most reliable, honest, thorough, experienced pool company I’ve ever encountered. I’ve dealt with literally dozens and dozens of pool companies in the last 50 years. Royal Blue is on another level way above them all! The owner, Paul worked with surgical precision. He even repaired things that had nothing to do with the heater installation, for which he was contracted. My address plate had fallen down from the wind, his perfectionism wouldn’t allow him to ignore it, so he got up on a ladder and reinstalled it. He replaced my old gauge, etc. all at no additional charge. If you’re looking for a pool company that you can trust implicitly, call Paul. His lovely wife, Debbie will arrange everything so that your service experience will be amazingly, seamless, punctual and done perfectly right, the first time! Dr. David Satz P.s. I don’t impress easily! But I can honestly state: I was in awe!"
"Absolutely unreal - contacted him after other pool services wouldn’t even return my calls (busy time of year - April 1). Helped me out same day, and conservatively saved me roughly a thousand bucks. Quick, thoughtful, and skilled. Let’s just sum up - my old single speed was starting to leak a bit.. and over a couple days, that leak began to grow. I examined my options - figured I’d go variable speed to save money on electricity, and just have to eats the fact that that would cost me 2k installed, most likely. Well, Paul had other ideas - his initial pricing for a new pump was far below others, but the option we ended with was fantastic - a rebuilt unit that is effectively new anyhow. It is cleaner and in better shape than a NEW o-en box unit I was looking at at leslies. He also gave clear and concise instruction on usage - I,pro tang for moving to a variable speed pump, because its like going from a Telegraph machine to a 1990s era flip- phone. I couldn’t be happier - I can handle maintenance but I can’t deal with hardware installs, and this guy just became my go-to for any equipment need. Check my other reviews - I do not write them often - this is one of the best service providers of any stripe that I’ve ever dealt with. Showed up when he said he would, charged what he said he would, and saved me time, money, and frustration."
