"I've seen at least 20 Productions created by this great theater company. They always do exciting, compelling, challenging theater work. The actors are always great, a great ensemble. Pictures posted are from a recent production of "X" which is a play about astronauts going insane on an expedition into futuristic space...or is it? If you like Tarkovsky's "Solaris" or sci fi films like Martian, Ray Bradbury's The Veldt, or Tenent movie, you would like this play. One of the best things about seeing theater with these guys is afterwards: they have "the buzz" which is a great opportunity for audience members to stick around and talk with the entire cast and director about ideas behind the creation of the play, trying to discern meaning. It's always an exceptional artistic experience to talk with the creators about what they've created. I'd say the best thing about going to the theater is demonstrated by the pictures of friendly theater-lovers talking, hugging, laughing after the discussion. It just goes to show you that TEH THEATER is a great community if you only get involved."

"Last night, I went to see my dear friend, Annette Houlihan Verdolino in a staged reading at A Public Fit Theatre Company Staged Reading | “Alabaster” by Audrey Cefaly. When I hear “staged reading” I figure it will be actors sitting/standing behind music stands in street clothes and scripts. Well, that was certainly not the case last night. There were costumes, a set, lighting, amazing sound effects and 4 brilliant actresses performing this moving play for over 2-hours, barely ever looking at their scripts in hand. I had not heard of A Public Fit Theatre Company until last night. This reading is closing their 9th Season. It was performed at the Clark County Library on E. Flamingo, but here is the most surprising part, this performance was FREE!! And there is another performance today at 2:00pm and it’s FREE!! This production is one of the finest pieces of live theatre I’ve seen in Las Vegas. And this theatre company is making it accessible to absolutely anyone to see it. Creating theatre is expensive, thus continually driving ticket prices higher and higher. Many people and families simply cannot afford to see quality work and this company is giving it away. BRAVO! When you hear, it’s free, you automatically assume that the actors are not being paid. That is not the case. Everyone connected with the production was paid, and my friend Annette, who is a member of Actors Equity Association (the professional actors and stage managers union), was paid on a union contract. These people are not messing around. The story is funny, disturbing, thought provoking, tragic and the need for a tissue or two was necessary. Follow this reading, they even offered an extra bonus, something they call “The Buzz”. A talkback with the cast, creatives, crew . . . Engaging and enlightening. A chance to discuss the show with the people who actually did it. And a chance to interact wit other theatre goers. Such fun. I’m so proud of this industry I am part of (for over 30 years now, and yes I know I’m getting older), but these professional theatrical companies are hurting. It is a struggle everyday to keep their “doors” open and operating. It’s easy when a choosing to see a show to pick one on the Strip or at our wonderful Smith Center, but take a moment and look at the varied theatre companies who offer a wide range of theatrical experiences right under our own noses. There is more to learn in this life then just streaming a movie or documentary online. Use all of your senses when you experience a live performance in a theatre, concert hall, reimagined performance space, an outside stage in a park, or even in a subway tunnel or street corner.
