"Great place and the road was pretty good for our Jeep Renegade(no 4x4 needed)when we went.I will say that unless you are hunting then August would be a better time to go.Main pool feels like luke warm bathwater. The 2 undeveloped pools are much warmer. We went in late September.Warmest pool in photo below."
"What an amazing sidequest! Passing through the desert on our trip across the country and decided to check this out. Make sure to have GPS cause this is a long way from phone service. We drove through the refuge and saw wild antelope! Then got caught in a thunder snow storm coming down back side of the mountain. The dried lake beds were filled with water, really quite a view I’ll never forget. Was quite magical and my wife and daughter loved it! Definitely make sure you have plenty of gas and water and a plan to travel through."
"So much awesome! Birding, soaking, rock hunting, opal mining. If you have a pulse this is the place for you. 14 days free camping too. If you’re hungry nearby Denio Junction is a great place to go."
"We drove thru in mid May. We seen a few Antelope in the distance. Very dry land, feed already turned yellow. This area is not one for the unprepared. Make sure you have plenty of gas and supplies, as services are very far away. Beautiful area to see and take a drive thru. Winter travel definitely NOT advisable!"
"- Bring water - Bring gas (if you can) - Know how to change a tire - High clearance and/or good tires recommend - Enjoy beautiful wilderness I saw antelope (30+), coyotes, and deer each morning I was there (October). Drive slowly to avoid startling them. Highly recommend and can't wait to go for the new moon to see the stars"
