"This trail is strenuous with a lot of rack scrambling on the way up to Shirley Lake. Most people seemed to continue pass the lake to High Camp at Palisades Mountain Resort. At High Camp, you can eat and take a free ride down on the tram back to the car."
"I LOVED this trail. There absolutely were some challenging spots but there was plenty of time spent walking through pines and wildflowers! It took us 2hrs and 45min. I stopped to take a lot of pictures. My son could have done in 2hrs or less. He was patient with my pace. We had to cross snow near the top. There was a lake where humans and dogs could cool off. Plenty of waterfalls to splash in. When we reached the top I was surprised to find restaurants, bathrooms a play ground and a huge observation deck. I was also surprised that a 12oz CAN of soda was $5.41!!! I had water in my pack so I was fine!!! The Tram ride down was free ($44 to ride up from the village). Beautiful views on the ride. We parked at the ski lodge and walked to the trail head. Trail was well marked. We did see other hikers but not as many as I expected. I’m so glad we found this hike!"
"Amazing! This hike is wonderful and will only get better as the snow melts. The trail is a bit hard to find at moments, but just wait for others if you cannot see the blue markings on the rocks. This is a difficult hike, so make sure you bring plenty of water. As of 07/03/23, the trail to the tram is closed, and you can only get to the lake. Plan to make it an out and back. Overall, I want to go back. Enjoy!"
"This is a classic N Tahoe hike along a beautiful creek with numerous waterfalls. It's a gem of a hike and should be experienced by anyone looking for a good hike in Tahoe. There are challenging sections that are steep with lots of rocks but there are also lots of gentle sections where you can catch your breath. The views and scenery make this a wonderful hike that you should experience."
"A great trail to hike at Palisades/Squaw Valley. I hiked it in early Spring so there was still some snow on the trail. Only went up about a half mile due to snow, and also that is where the waterfall is. The waterfall is great in the Spring as the snow melts the mountain, and the views of Squaw Valley below are beautiful."
