"Found this beautiful sandy beach on the Big Island. Weather was perfect and the water was so so blue. Lots of space for everyone. Found out at the end of our day you can rent chairs , umbrellas and boogie boards about 10 minutes away."
"They do an amazing job here! The beach is very clean, they are really helpful with telling you what to expect, rough times of when turtles are likely to show up, they have anti fog and reef safe sunscreen there free of charge. Staff ask over to show you things that you might not have seen on your own, life guards there. Make sure kids are comfortable swimming or snorkeling due to not being able to stand on the quarrel, or being life jackets or some sort of flotation will be helpful. First place so far where we attempted to Snorkel, but would say it would be the best place for kids out people trying it out. With the wave break there is nice and calm everywhere you would want to be."
"Beautiful beach for snorkelling. There are a variety of Colorful fishes. Check the pics to see their names. Parking is $12. They have outdoor showers and bathrooms. Parking is difficult to get so arrive early. The rocks on left are exposed during low tides. You are not supposed to walk on them as they have corals which the turtles love. So that is marked as protected area and you can’t walk on them. During high tides you can swim over them to see the turtles. There are instructors who tell you which way to go, and they encourage you to swim and go rather than walking near the entry points. They are some balls floating which indicate the area being has corals so you cannot stand beyond that. My son loved the variety of fishes we saw and we may plan to go again. Swimming shoes recommended."
"Easily accessible snorkeling and surfing spot. Parking was $12 with an easy to use interface. Parking did appear to fill up; we saw cars waiting when we left. Adequate restrooms with incredibly informative hosts, even multiple tents to answer questions. Lots of tables under cover. The beach itself is sub-par. Very rough sand, walls preventing you from walking directly into the water except in one spot. The bay is divided into 50% snorkeling, 50% surfing. The snorkeling side is an immature reef with heavy rocks blocking the entrance; the surfing is on the other half. We did beginner surfing lessons one day here and it was a fine spot. The waves are surfable but not too big. The snorkeling was fine. The day we went was rough surf and a little cold. There were a number of other snorkelers and we did bump into them from time to time. There was a good variety of fish and types of coral. My wife saw a turtle out close to the rocks. Overall, worth the visit if you want easy snorkeling or beginner surfing."
"What a beautiful beach and perfect place to go snorkeling! So many different kinds of fish and even saw a turtle swimming by! The water is so clear! Plenty of space for you to get suntan and other beach activities. Oh, they even provide mineral sunscreen! Parking is 4 hrs for $12 flat rate. I would park on street if you can find a space."
