"We stayed here for a week and the construction noise is quite disruptive. Food isn’t the best (and very pricey). The renovated rooms are quite nice themselves and beds are comfortable. However one day we came back to the room with the door widely opened - reasons unknown - and the front desk promised us that the manager will call (who never did). When we checked out, I described the situations again and the front desk just looked at me in the eye with horror and despair… no resolution. Generally the service is a mess."

"Just returned from 7 days at the Outrigger. Our remodeled and spacious room was on the ocean front and you could hear the waves crashing every night. Housekeeping kept our room and the entire property clean and welcoming. Hotel is quiet at night with easy access to downtown Kona. Staff was very accommodating with special shout outs to Michael (manager), Frankie (front desk), Aileen (restaurant). Water pressure could be stronger and bed a bit firmer. Overall, a very pleasant stay!"

"We had a lovely time at the outrigger. They were doing renovations at the time but you could see the potential that the hotel has once done. The food was fantastic as was the service. If you are going to Kona to see the manta rays this is definitely the hotel for you as it's less than a 5 min walk to the boat ramp where the tours set off."

"Great family and couples combo place! Pool area with 1 slide, sand area, waterfall are all nice. Remodeled rooms are great. Beds may be a little too soft… the sandwiched my wife and I. Food and drinks are resort prices, but Kona is a short drive as well as many restaurants within 5mins. parking was fine but extra, even for self. Luau looked amazing but was private to others when we were there. Manta rays viewing area was fun for a night. Actually going out there and experiencing the manta rays is a must and a reason you visit this island. I’d stay here again!"

"Pros: • Excellent service: The staff at the hotel are commendable for their kindness and readiness to assist. • Enjoyable amenities: The water slide and open pool are particularly enjoyable and well-maintained. Cons: • Undergoing renovations: Guests should be aware that the hotel is currently undergoing renovations, which might impact the overall experience. • Outdated in parts: Some areas of the hotel still feel outdated, although there are plans for improvements. • Complex navigation: The layout of the building can be confusing, requiring guests to walk around more than expected. • Restaurant pricing vs. ambiance: The restaurant’s ambiance and furnishings do not seem to match the prices charged for the food. But food is really good. • Lack of beach access: Guests should note that there is no direct beach access from the hotel. But territory is great and interesting to explore! And $25 night parking is just not very good :) Overall Impression: Despite the challenges posed by ongoing renovations and certain outdated aspects, the hotel makes up for these with exceptional service and enjoyable amenities like a water slide and open pool. Guests looking for modern, navigable premises with beach access might need to adjust their expectations, but those prioritizing service and specific amenities will find their needs met."
