SPACE

SPACE is a unique institution located at 12-253 West Pohakupele Loop in Pāhoa, Hawaii, United States. It is a Micro Farming and Food Rescue Program that offers food cultivation classes, a volunteer gleaning program, and Community Gardens. The institution also hosts a K-6 HAAS assisted learning program for 55 local youth, with classes in Circus, Visual Arts, Music, Hula, STEAM, Gardening, and more. The mission of HICCUP Circus, based at SPACE, is to promote the healthy development and resilience of children through circus skills and traditions.

SPACE is a 3,500 sqft open-air pavilion that houses the HICCUP Circus, Out on a Limb, community health and wellness classes, and the HAAS Seaview Community School. Its mission is to creatively promote sustainable community development in Puna Makai. The institution aims to provide modular, flexible, and accessible education opportunities while maintaining a fun and safe environment for families and individuals from all walks of life.

Co-founded by international circus artists and performers, SPACE offers a variety of programs and classes to engage the community and promote self-esteem among youth in Hawaii's Puna District. With a focus on community involvement and education, SPACE is supported by the Village Green Society (VGS) and the Hawaii Academy of Arts & Sciences (HAAS). As a grassroots non-profit organization, SPACE relies on program income, donations, and grants for funding.
