"Fun area to watch the planes and gliders take off."
"Steep switchback trial with fantastic views along the way. No great view from the picnic table, but a nice shaded spot to rest. Many stop here and turn around. Or this is about the halfway point to Makua Ridge where you can look over into the Makua Valley and the West side of the island. Makua Valley is a military training site stolen from Hawaiian families in 1941. They said it was temporary, but that was a lie."
"Our family enjoyed the views on the way up. It's much dryer on this corner of the island compared to Honolulu. The views of the North Shore are excellent. As you go up you can see the quarry turned to Tilapia farm. It's not a difficult trail but does have a lot of Rocky and uneven footing on the path."
"Very nice hike to picnic bench. Got my heart rate up and some great views along the way. My 6 yr old daughter was able to do it too relatively unassisted."
