Wailua Golf Course

"Not my best start of the 2024 season for me but it was fun. The course is a nice DL left kind of design with awesome views to the ocean and the adjacent mountains. The pro in the shop is funny and very nice as a matter of fact, everyone there was very helpful and accommodating. The greens, WOW! For the most part are all of them are guarded or flanked by sand or some other penalty. The sand in particular is a huge penalty because it is SO DAMN FIRM! Few actually rake out their trips to the beach which always makes it more fun hitting from Lurches 3” deep left heel plant (like a size 13 at least). T- boxes as far as I could tell are fairly evenly graded and well maintained and believe you me, I know my T-boxes. The fairways are very nicely maintained as well. I witnessed them first hand the 3 times I actually hit them or didn’t roll through to the rough. The rough wasn’t really rough, it was hard as it should be but easy to hit out of. Back to the GD greens that despite the recent rains were VERY firm and rolled like steel ballbearing on glass. It was more of a penalty hitting a green than hitting to the front edge and then either bump n run or putt up to the hole. (Words to the wise) like I said not my best showing of ‘24 but it was my first time out in nearly 5 months and my back was hurting and I didn’t have a glove and I was using some very used (not well either Mr Pro) golf clubs my allergies were going nuts and… you get my drift. It’s a good course, great views, laid back players and staff. I give it a 2 thumbs WAY up rating. Go play. F O R E !"

"A must play for every time I visit Kauai. Best value for your money even though the green fees have gone up the past couple of years. Still a great deal in comparison to other courses on the island. Great condition and very scenic back nine"

"Incredible value even as a nonresident. Tee time, club rentals, and a pull cart all came out to ~$100 for a course that was in great condition for a muni course that's better than many of the courses I've been to in the DMV. Rentals were Cleveland Launchers that were in great condition and good for my game. Course layout is pretty friendly, as there aren't too many OB areas. A few holes are along the ocean. Just make sure to bring enough water and snacks, since the restaurant is closed and I didn't see a beverage cart."

"Played Wailua on 11/01/23. The course was absolutely perfect. Right on the ocean with plenty of great ocean views. What a gem for a city course. The greens were pure the fairways were great. The layout of the course is great for all skill levels. Long enough for those who want a challenge. A definite must play for anyone in the area. The course is worth playing over most $300+ courses on the island. The price is hard to beat and worth playing a couple times. The course does get backed up because of the Price and the great conditions. So be prepared to be on Hawaiian time."

"We played a round of 18 at this beautiful municipal course prior to our tournament at Poipu bay. Range balls were reasonably priced, and the course conditions were great. My one gripe was that there was a group of 6 playing ahead of us that slowed the pace of play. Also the bunkers are huge and hazards aplenty, so you really want to hit it accurately even though the fairways are reasonably wide. Great Photo op on the 17th hole with the ocean in the background."
