"This is a beautiful site! The visitor center has an interesting video that describes the history behind the location; and as you walk around, you can enjoy beautiful views. The site is spread out, so it didn't feel crowded, and there are some fun hikes around the area."
"Photos don’t properly convey the beauty of this place. Pristine clear water with schools of yellow fish, clusters of swaying palm trees, mountains in the distance, white sand under your feet, and rich history make this a very powerful and unforgettable place. I highly recommend watching the film that they show at the visitors center to understand the significance and sacredness of where you are. You can also watch the video online before or after your visit. There is a self guided tour with a map that they give you at the visitors center and also a free audio tour that you can get on your phone through the NPS app. America the Beautiful annual pass works here for free admission."
"If you can get down to the captain cook area while on the big island you'll love coming here! It's also right next to two step beach (you cannot park and go to the beach here) but it's totally worth stopping by! There was ample parking. This spot had clean restrooms! It was really easy to get to via Google maps and we really enjoyed our time here. I'd suggest you pop by and get your national parks passport stamped!"
"Awesome historic beachfront park! There is a small series of trails that are all pretty flat and accessible, and while signage is pretty much nonexistent, you can follow along with the park brochure or app audio guide to know what you’re looking at. Interesting restoration/recreated structures and artwork, along with some original archaeological features. Annual America the Beautiful (national park) pass will get you in here for free. Bathrooms and small gift shop off of parking lot. Snorkel/swim at the beach next door, not here!"
