"The content I learned was full of information that would be immediately useful in my daily life, but since I was learning the contents of a 500-page textbook at a rapid pace, I had to review them at home, so it was a very tough three weeks. Dr. Mona's lectures on Zoom were taught in plain English and included stories from her extensive experience, so I was able to relax and listen with interest. Even if I couldn't understand the teacher's English, I didn't have any problems because there was support from a Japanese interpreter. However, both the written and practical exams for graduation are conducted in English, so I got the impression that it would be a difficult hurdle for those who can't speak English at all. I think it is reassuring for those who wish to take the state CNA test to be able to receive support for taking the test even after graduation."

"In 2020, our lives changed completely due to the influence of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19). During this period of self-restraint, I wanted to obtain a qualification as a nurse assistant, which I had been interested in for some time. I decided to apply to Hawaii Healthcare School because I was able to attend with a Japanese-speaking assistant. The class was an online class using Zoom, so I met the instructor, Ms. Mona, through a screen, but she carefully taught the class in easy-to-understand English. Dr. Mona talked a lot about her own experiences, which was very helpful. Also, my assistant, Kyoko, translated in Japanese, so I was able to understand the lesson content better. I'm really glad I chose HHS, which has a small class size and a homely atmosphere. The three weeks went by in the blink of an eye, and I was able to enjoy going there every day. Mahalo!"

"I was laid off from the company I worked for due to the coronavirus pandemic, so what should I do now? . . Just as I was thinking about this, I came across an article in the Nikkan Sun and learned about this school, and also learned about the profession of NA (Nurse Assistant). Although it was a completely unknown field to me, I had two thoughts: I hoped that obtaining this new qualification would help me advance my career, and I also wanted to be able to be of some help to my family in the event of an emergency. This was the reason I became interested in this school. But most of all, I learned that there was a Japanese class (with Japanese interpretation) for a class that I thought could only be taught in English, and as someone like me who is not good at English, I thought, ``I'm so grateful to be able to study in Japanese and get a qualification in America.'' I thought, ``That's a good thing,'' and decided to enroll. I was able to attend classes with peace of mind, as my body temperature was measured every morning, and air purifiers were installed in the rooms to prevent infectious diseases. Of course the classes were all new to me. There were a lot of medical terms, but Dr. Mona, who has a lot of experience as a care worker and lecturer, explained things in English, and then Kyoko, a staff member, translated them, so it was a perfect fit. Kyoko said, ``The school will fully support you until you graduate.'' 'I was supported by his words. Mona-sensei's experiences were full of useful stories, and I was blessed with encouraging and fun classmates, and to be honest, the three weeks went by in the blink of an eye, even though it was tough as I had to prepare and review every day. Since this is a Japanese class, it was really helpful that some of the materials and practice questions were translated into Japanese. On the final day, President Greg attended and held a heartwarming graduation ceremony, and the school also handled the application process for the CNA test (separate fee). I would like to do my best so that what I learned at school can be put to good use in the future.
