"Scammers. I had to take them to court to get security deposit back. They claimed there was a clerical error to the judge for the whole security deposit. Took almost 6 months to get deposit back. Common practice at home river"
"Kelly Dewey has been a fantastic property manager since her assignment to our property. She helped us through the processes of managing appliance replacements for two sets of tenants, our original tenants moving out, resetting an appropriate market rate for rent, and the application and selection of our new tenant. Throughout it all she has demonstrated skill and professionalism, talking us through what could have been very stressful situations as novice rental property owners. We highly recommend her and Home River Group Hawaii."
"Is Jared a nice guy? Yes. Does he pick up the phone when you call? Mostly. Does he do the absolute minimum? Yes. Does he put issues related to your place on a back burner? Yes. If you want a property manager who provides exceptional service, please look somewhere else. If you do decide to work with them, please make sure to read their agreement line by line. With the management change in 2019 there is no visibility into the new company - who owns it? Who runs the operations? There is no personal touch, and the approach is very corporate."
"To make a long, unpleasant experience short—we had our property managed by HomeRiver for approximately 2 years. In that time, we were transferred to countless people, randomly getting emails from people we’ve never heard of telling us that they were our new property manager, etc. The biggest concern was lack of communication. We never knew what was going on with our property, never knew who to contact, would have to email/call countless times before we got a response & the response we did get was usually less than satisfactory, especially for the fees we pay. After 2 years of being dissatisfied, we decided to transfer to a different company. We informed our manager of this a month ago, & provided all the necessary info for her to transfer our service. She told us she would contact our new manager & get this done. 2+ weeks later, our (will be) new manager asked for our HomeRiver PM’s contact info, as she never heard from her. Our new PM never got a response, so a week ago, she asked us to reach out to HomeRiver again. It’s been over a week, 2 emails later, & now the 1st of the new year—the day rent is due from our tenant & service with HomeRiver is due to be terminated/moved to our new company, & still no word from our HomeRiver PM if they did what they were supposed to. Edit to add new info: a few months ago, we received a meld that the toilets were leaking. The damage became so extensive that the flooring was damaged & the bathroom had to be treated for mold. A plumber was called in, as they should’ve been. Almost $600 dollars later, we were under the impression that the toilets had been fixed. After the fact, we realized that our PM did not put the repair through our home warranty, which is an issue in itself. Had she done that like she should’ve, it would’ve saved us almost $500. Fast forward to today, our new PM received a call from our tenant that the toilets were still leaking, & apparently have been THE ENTIRE TIME. Even after the $600 “repair” that we were told was done & taken care of. To say we’re livid with the way everything has gone down, especially this last year, is an understatement. Sooo much wasted money, energy, & stress."
"Hawaiian Dream Properties have always been a delight to work with. They have helped us find the perfect condo for us on the Big Island in Hawaii for several years. The year of 2020 has been difficult with the Corona Virus. We had booked our condo for Feb. 2021 before we left the island in 2020. They have been good about keeping us updated on the rental situation in Hawaii. As our time to travel drew close, they allowed us to push our travel decision off for an extra month past our deadline. When we decided it would not work for us to travel to Hawaii in 2021, they understood and graciously sent us a full refund on our deposit. We truly appreciated all they did for us. It was disappointing to have to cancel, but we hope to travel back to Hawaii once again in 2022. Daisy was great to work with and look forward to working with her again. Thank-You!!"
