Reviews of Hawaii Kai Peninsula
"THIS PLACE IS MAGICAL AND THE PEOPLE WHO WORK HERE IS AMAZING. I HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO TRAIN AS A GUARD WITH AMAZING PEOPLE. THANK YOU FOR THE LAST RUN AS A GUARD. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU ALWAYS."
"Yes, there is a cockroach problem in the garages. There are tons of them and they get into your car. The garbage area is not cleaned and the run off is directed to your parking stalls. It is very unkept complex except for the security."
"For me when I am there in the evening I just love the gated community and the roving security. I walk there w my dog late evening and I feel safe. It’s quite a large gated community so my dog gets a lot sniffing room and work out time w/out me feeling like I may have to look over my shoulder."
"You pay for what you get. The maintenance staff is okay isn't the greatest but the place is nice and you are in a great location. The pools are nice, there are a few noisy neighbors but that's in every living facility. Overall, id say that this place is a bit overpriced but if you want garage parking it is worth it. The single bed rooms are NOT worth it. However, the 2-4 bedrooms are worth looking at. Im actually torn between giving the place 3 or 4 stars. Also in the review below me the security and maintenance has been changed and is much better than before."
"This review is only about the management and maintenance staff of The Peninsula and Colony. This location is beautiful from a landscaping and construction point of view, but the terrible maintenance crew has let this place become a bit rough around the edges and well on the way to being run down in a couple years down the road. I can't count the number of times I see the maintenance crew hiding from work... they can often be found in the shade of the parking garage or even hanging out in the barbecue/pool area relaxing and leering at residents who are trying to enjoy the pool, almost like they're offended we are in their favorite break time spot. Those things are annoying, but it wouldn't be nearly as bad if the property was well maintained, but sadly it's looking rough and you're considered an annoyance if you report it. I'm sure you know the type ... The "workers" that just want to hangout and chat all day and you, the I customer/resident, are just in the way. I'm a reasonable person, therefore I only expect a reasonable upkeep of the esthetics and preventative maintance to keep things from falling apart. With that, I would say a few examples of my point is that 1/4 of the exterior lights in the complex are burned out and the one's that do work often have mixed matching bulbs, which looks extremely bad...definitely not what you would expect for the cost of living here. Many fixtures are rusted over and also look bad... Paint has failed all over the complex. The biggest point to make is that these projects are stacking up and in a couple years the lack of maintenance will have ruined this beautiful property. The maintenance staff is not equal to the task of keeping the property nice. Of course, they always have an answer of why they can't fix things, but it's just words. I see these guys just sitting around all day. If you want to live here, I would recommend renting and not buying, as the best days (and value) are in the rear view... at least on the present course anyway. I'm including pictures so that you may judge for yourself. Keep in mind these pictures are just a few examples of a widespread, complex-wide problem. I'd also like to mention that the landscapers are top notch and a far cry from the maintenance crew. From a landscaping perspective, you just can't find better than this property. Great job to the contract landscaping company!"
