"I recently booked a stay at Paia, lured in by the attractive photos of a charming boutique hotel experience. However, the reality fell short of expectations, especially considering the steep price of $600 per night, which also included a “resort fee” without any resort amenities. Upon arrival, it became clear that the room I was provided with bore little resemblance to the idyllic bungalow featured in all their promotional material. Instead, I found myself in a cramped space, with barely 2-3 feet of clearance around the bed, which felt suffocating rather than cozy. The room's location on a busy street compounded the issue, with traffic noises starting as early as 6 am, disrupting any chance of a peaceful sleep-in. Both the bar and restaurant were closed on Sunday and Monday, which significantly diminished the value of staying here, given the lack of dining options within the hotel. While the staff were very polite, it did little to alleviate the overall sense of disappointment. The disconnect between the advertised experience and the reality was stark. For the price paid, I expected a lot more in terms of room quality, peace, and available amenities. This hotel might suit those who plan their visits around when all facilities are open and can request a room away from the street, but for my part, I found it overpriced and underwhelming. I cannot recommend it based on my experience, and future guests should manage their expectations or seek accommodations elsewhere and be sure to get photos of the exact room you’ll be staying in…Mine was 103 and anything over $200 including taxes and fees for this room is outrageous for what you get- see photos."
"We visited the 1st week of December and loved this hotel! You are walking distance from so many good eats and the beach access is super convenient. This was a work trip, so if you care their internet speed is solid for both downloads & uploads. A special shoutout to Kathrine who was an excellent host. She was very patient with our questions and always made sure we were taken care of!"
"First, you will be charged upfront when you book. This should have been a red flag for me. You have a 30 day cancellation. Once I arrived, I was stuck. I was so unhappy with my $900+/night room that I left early and took a loss. They still charged me for my entire stay even though I checked out. Luckily, I’m from Honolulu, so I just changed my flight and went home. Nothing relaxing or nice about my stay. I hated having to walk through the restaurant to get to my room at night. There were no CLEAN outdoor spaces to relax. Beach was not accessible unless you were willing to risk your safety down slippery rocks. The beach was rough and choppy surf. The staff was friendly, but the place was just too dirty for me to stay. This was my worst staycation ever. I’ve never left a place early before. I’ll upload pictures and you can be the judge."
"Paia is such a cute beach town. A must to see and spend the night in. Paia Inn was the perfect place for this, a cozy environment with a private beach access and an amazing restaurant. Go have a cocktail across the street if you want a different town vibe and come back for some sushi and even more cocktails. The rooms have a great vibe and it helps make everything even more comfortable. The staff are really nice, both for the hotel (receptionists, cleaning staff) and the restaurant. Would have extended our stay another night if a room were to have been available."
"Loved this place! It was a very cute, boutique, ocean vibe hotel in the centre of Paia, so a perfect place to stay if you’re thinking of doing the Road to Hana. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms had all the amenities you would need. The hotel had its own private access down to the beach and provided beach towels. Would definitely recommend visiting!"
