"Very disappointing. My husband purchased a beautiful ring I picked out at Maui Hands at the Wailea shops. I have loved this very special ring. I’ve worn it on special occasions and in doing so it became a bit scratched. I asked Maui Hands if Pratima could buff it and clean it for me. The employee contacted Pratima and was told, yes. The employee told me there might be a minimal charge, but she suspected there wouldn’t be since the ring was many thousand $$$. A week or so later, Maui Hands called to say there was a deep scratch and Pratima was not comfortable trying to take it out as considerable gold would be lost. I said it was okay to leave the scratch alone. When the ring was ready, they called to tell me it was done, emphasized that it was stunning and that there was a very minimal charge. I asked what the charge was and was told $125. My husband and I were shocked. The employee again stressed the ring was spectacular and worth the minimal amount. I’m wondering why I wasn’t contacted about the cost before moving forward? I would have never approved but instead would have taken it to our jeweler who would have cleaned it up at no cost. When I went in to pick up my ring I spoke with the employee about my anger and frustration. She became defensive and argumentative. I felt held hostage. She told me in an angry tone that she would pay for it herself out of her personal paycheck. When I got home, without being charged, I inspected my ring and it is damaged. It looks like an orbital sander was used and left ugly marks on the most visible surface as well as additional damage to the beautiful amethyst. I won’t be returning to Maui Hands, nor am I able to recommend Pratima. Very disappointing."

"The craftsmanship of these jewelers is nothing short of perfect. I spent years contemplating how to re-set my alexandrite wedding stone. Having heard discouraging stories about working with jewelers, and previously having my own less-than-courteous experiences, I had all but given up hope of getting this project done at a price I could afford. I am continually grateful --every time I catch a glimpse of my ring--for their help in deciding the design, for their patience with me, for their trustworthiness both in their craft and professionally. It's been two weeks and I still can't stop staring at my ring, exactly what I had dreamt of but never could have designed without them!"

My husband and I went to Maui recently to celebrate our 40th anniversary, and we met with Christina and Thomas to design a ring that incorporated my engagement diamond, a sapphire I bought 30+ years ago on Maui, and a new stone.
