"First thing that needs to be said before you read any of the reviews is have expectation management, understand the purpose of your trip and this hotel. BLUF: It’s a practical and functional military hotel that really wasn’t designed around tourism that works hard to keep up to date. This inn/Hotel is just a reflection of the Base that surrounds it beat up, dated, and needing infrastructure repair. It has the feel and look that time is the only thing that has changed over the years, however it does what it is supposed to do, provide security and protection so you can equip, conduct daily activities and rest. This is not a tourist hotel that you would picture in a typical Hawaiian vacation movie, (Don’t let anyone sell you that) but it gets the job done. The hotel has its corks, AC kind of loud, bed sheets on top, that’s a new strange one for me, real chicken alarm clock at 0400 LOL, not a large staff but friendly enough so overall this hotel has no real show stoppers. However, don’t book your “romantic honeymoon getaway” here, your wife/significant other will be pissed, you don’t want this to be the start of the reflection of your marriage it could end short with regret spend a little money and go to a real Hawaiian hotel. If you want to do any tourist stuff it is convenient but you will need a form of transportation however if you are just looking for a hub to lay your head down you found the place. The PX, commissary and gym are within a short walking distance but again tourist stuff will need to be planned with transportation, your not walking out the door and on to the beach or ocean hopefully you noticed that when you saw the map. If you are looking to do those things and not have to deal with the high volume of traffic, people and tourism you may have found the right place with a little bit of travel. You are far enough away and being on base you are in a secure and familiar location so you can enjoy that aspect of your trip without worry, especially if you travel with family but you better have activities planned or you be doomed and your children will hate you because there is nothing to do here without some sort of game plan before you arrive, unlike Honolulu or further South. Even the massive pool next door looks like it’s been closed for years when you walk by, not sure what’s up with that. This is a great hub to plan out of, keep you and your things secured, find food and supplies at on post/reasonable prices, park your car without extra fees or stress, have a descant size room with a kitchen that you can conduct activities and play games with the family out of and with a little planning and travel be in a great location for day trips however if you want to sacrifice a little security, and money and want a hotel with all the “bells and whistles”, updated accommodations, plenty of staff, beach and night activities right outside your door, shopping malls, and everything within walking distance this a hard pass. Perfect example: Even now as I”m writing this at the hotel we are on a planned 8 hour power outage. This is outside of the hotels control. But, I ask who still does stuff like that now days outside third-world countries unless you’re practicing some kind of emergency preparedness event. Of course I knew nothing about it when I booked the place also keep in mind its Saturday night, this would never happen at a tourist hotel, people would get fired, but we are on base and this is just one of the challenges you may come across so you have to be flexible, travel with a game plan, and may have to revisit your purpose for your trip if you want to stay here."
"No idea what folks are expecting for a PCS hotel. This isn’t a resort. It serves its purpose and the cleaning staff are not there as your servants they’re there for your convenience. Folks who weren’t satisfied with the frequency could have easily seen the carts on the lanai and kindly ask for a room cleaning. There seem to be a lot of entitled brats who can’t do for themselves that have likely never had to live in a really scummy environment before. Be grateful you had a place to stay, it could have been worse. My husband and I stayed for 10 days and the hotel front desk was able to extend us for an extra 3 days. I am very pleased with the facility. The location is really convenient. If you’re a whiny high maintenance type, go somewhere else."
"It’s a decent size room. There is home service every day laundry and dryer. It’s three dollar each and it’s usually busy and most of the time people leave their clothes in the washer ,There is no KitchenAid. There is a microwave and coffee maker. The office have some coffee and snack for sale. The office usually open 24 ,did I like it not really, but it is safe area most of family who staying here waiting for housing and they are army families there’s a lot of retiree too. It’s close to everything ,you can walk to commissary and the PX the gym, and the library and the bawling. It’s all in the corner, so it might make more sense to stay there if you stationed in Schofield Barricks."
"Army PCS bare minimum rooms. They are very clean and spacious! The furnishings are dated and perfunctory. Vinyl flooring and very decent beds. The bed pillows are tiny so we bought new pillows and put them in zipper cases to use during our stay. This is no resort, and that justifies the low rates. Exactly what it should be and very central to the Commissary and PX. We have used them during our PCS in and over Christmas for visiting family. Customer service is excellent!"
"The only good thing about this hotel is the convenience of its location but everything else drowns that out. It is outdated, the rooms come with nothing, if you request extra towels or blankets they’re gone by the next day. The cleaning staff is irregular- never coming at the same time or cleaning the same things. The front desk didn’t tell us the rooms didn’t have hairdryers or anything about the weird laundry set up. Just do yourself a favor and pick anywhere else for your PCS because this hotel is not worth it."
