"They will take you to the hospital they choose instead of the one you requested. I was told by several hospital staff that this happens quite a bit. Unfortunate, REMSA is the only ambulance service in Reno."
"Ground ambulance needs to be included in the surprise billing laws. Since this is the only game in town, they can just charge whatever ridiculous rate they want (why they aren't in any network). $2k for a 4mi non critical seizure episode is beyond reasonable. They were paid by my insurance the fair rate (just under half), but that's not good enough. Being my Father started and ran Remsa (Remsa, if you actually look at this, my last name should give you a starting point to look that up), there is no possible way to justify $2k for that trip other than a money grab and taking advantage of the situation of being the only provider. Judging from the other comments here, Remsa has become a shadow of what it once was."
"We need better or more ambulance company in our town. This company doesn’t have the compassion to genuinely assist or support our community. I have never met someone that are as I’ll mannered, impolite, disrespectful, unapproachable I can go on. Why can’t their rights be overridden, our city is growing and this company can longer meet the demand."
"In today's world if you get loud on the emergency call the dispatcher will call the police on you. I couldn't find a law on the books where it says it's against the law to get loud with the dispatcher. It almost cost the life of my wife. Her respiratory was between 30%-40% of oxygen in the brain and heart. I never heard the sirens but I did hear a slight knock on the door no announcement to who it was. The police officer then tried to open my door."
"After I called 911, the team arrived and asked a few questions - no vitals taken. The lead then tried to convince me I was having an anxiety attack and that I could make the decision to not go to the hospital. He said this several times. I insisted that I wanted to go. My vitals were finally taken several minutes into transfer and the lead finally acknowledged the severity of the situation. My diagnosis when I was seen at the hospital was a kidney infection, and have been iv antibiotics since admission, 36 hours ago. Glad I didn't listen to his "diagnosis" and instead listened to myself. Unfortunately, the lead seemed to be training others. I hope they have the good sense to treat their patients with dignity."
