"If Dr Tanabe wasn't there, I'd rate this office 1 star. He's an absolute Saint that has his magical ways of connecting with kids regardless of age. He's incredibly knowledgeable and has never rushed us. He always takes a respectful amount of time to accomplish what's necessary. All of my kids have gone to Dr Tanabe their entire life while we've had the top level plan HMSA offers. When covid hit, like many, we lost employment and resorted to HMSA Qwest (state medical). I had to find a Dr near me but Straub Hawaii Kai refused services to me entirely, all because of one missed appointment in 2013(miscommunication of appointment date). Seriously?? They claim they're not taking in any new HMSA patients either. My husband's a doctor and would never shun a member of a loyal family that's been established with them for 12 years or so. I live so close that it's most logical to simply join the office that my entire family goes to. I'll try again but I'm certainly not holding my breath!"

"Dr. Bhagen is incredible. Not only has she taken great care of my health, but also she is lovely to speak with at every appointment. She is soo knowledgeable in women’s health and takes her time to thoroughly explain any question or concern that I have. It’s rare to find a doctor that combines such personal touches and care for a patient as a person with outstanding quality of medical care. "After waiting a week or more to get a call back establishing a schedule date for a facetime "exam", I was finally given a schedule, two weeks out. When the call occured it was 25 minutes after my appointment and i was on hold the entire time. The call lasted less than 10 minutes and the cost was 290.00 billed to my insurance. An in office appointment was recommended for a full physical exam. I agreed so a few days later the desk crew called me and set-up a date and time suitable to the Dr. I waited nearly 3 more weeks, went, was met by an assistant who took my blood pressure, weighed me and charted my height. Then thanked me for coming and said you're all done, you can leave. Several weeks have gone by and no followup. So, as conditions worsened I called for another appointment. After selecting all the number keys required, I finally spoke with a desk clerk. They wanted to set up another phone "exam". I denied saying there is nothing they can fix on the phone. She explained she would have to ask the Dr., term used loosely, if he would actually do a "hands on" exam. I agreed she could get permission and call me back. I was working when she called so missed thecall but called back moments later, as requested. After more than 10 minutes pushing buttons and waiting on hold, another person answered. I explained all the dEtails AGAIN and she was happy to set an appointment for another facetime exam, because "they are very concerned about me as a patient". I said NO a phone droctor is not what I need. I can get that help on Dr. Phil for free. She explained that the "DR." WAS NOT SEEING PATIENTS IN PERSON DUE TO COVID CONCERNS. Would anyone care to know my exact response? Simply put, I will not be going to this dr. Or straub Hawaii Kai . I will find someone who cares about something more than collecting fees. The doctor's actually listen to you and provides the patients tools and a plan directive to a healthy lifestyle. The know how to diagnose issues and actually listen to everything you say. I am so happy that I made an appointment at Straub. They really take care of you from start to finish. The doctor they recommended to me exceeds all expectations I had about Straub! I love the fact that when you schedule an appointment they ask you if you prefer a male or female doctor. Star is awesome for assisting me with my new and awesome PCP!"
